Spending time with my Nana

Today I got to go see my Nana. I talked with my mom's husband while I was waiting for the train up there, and my mom was getting an MRI done. She got back right before the train came, so I didn't get a chance to really talk to here since she was getting into bed and such. I don't know if they are going to keep her for another night or anything. I guess I should call and see how she's doing so I can update all of you as well. Well, I forgot about the time difference and it's almost midnight there, so she didn't pick up. I called her just in case she was in the hospital still and couldn't sleep. She didn't pick up, so there's a good chance she's back home. That's good to know. I may not know much, but I know she's getting better or else they would have called me. I wonder if they found anything this time. She should file for disability if they do, since she needs her hands to do her job and she's been having trouble with her right hand with the stroke. It affected her right side. She couldn't do anything before because once again it was a mini stroke and they couldn't find any evidence of the clot that caused the damage. It broke up and disappeared.
I had a nice train ride and then I went to go see my Nana. I got to spend some time with her today and it was nice. We sat in her room and talked for a couple hours. It was really nice to get to know her better, learn things from her past. She said the most beautiful thing she had seen in her 92 years was a baby being born. She actually went into another woman's delivery room and saw the baby being born with her best friend and cousin. I believe her when she said that it's the most beautiful thing she's seen, since she seemed to be in awe when she talked about it. We had dinner together in her room, and it was nice. It's been a while since I've seen my Nana, and the times I've seen her before she wasn't doing too well. It was great to come see her when she is in a good frame of mind. My aunt said that there is a new pill that my Nana is taking and it's helping her clear her mind of the dementia. My Nana doesn't like taking her pills, but she said that she took all of them tonight. I'm glad. I know it sucks to take pills, but they are the best thing for you.
Tomorrow I'm going to go to lunch with my Nana as well. I'm looking forward to having more time to spend with her. She's going to bed now, so it's my time to do my journal and look back on the day. I'm doing much better today than I was yesterday... thanks for all the well-wishes on my journal and hugs. I got most of the bad memories out of my head, and I'm ready for whatever is next. Geo kinda chewed me out last night for holding a pity party for myself. I didn't like it at first, but then I remember I like people who tell me what I need to hear, not what I want to hear. He wasn't mad at me for thinking about my dad and stuff, but he told me to stop living in the past and get over the depression. He said it's okay to be sad and think of the good days, but it's not worth it to get depressed and throw a pity party. That's what I was doing, and it's not what I should be doing. I should be looking on the good days and remembering that. I'm trying to build some good memories of my Nana as well. I know she doesn't have many days left.
I'm trying to treat this as the last time I'm going to see my Nana. It's hard, but I know that she's not going to have many good days left. Although with how good she was doing today it's hard to see. I know that's she's had some bad days and I've called and tried to talk to her on them. It's hard.. she slurs her words, she doesn't know who I am, gets me confused with her other grandchildren and friends. So I know she doesn't have long left. I love her to death, but I know that she has her days numbered. I'm trying to spend as much time with her as I can. I'm so glad I made it out here and it was totally worth the $20 it cost to get up here on the train. I just wish I could spend more time with her than I already have.
Really quick wrap up of the day- food was good... I had bananas and cashews for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and spaghetti for dinner. I was good on my calories. Stress was moderate today, worried about my mom and the stroke, and sleep last night was okay. I'm still tired, and may go to sleep early tonight. Mood today was good, and hopefully I feel even better tomorrow!
