Specialist visit went well
My visit with Dr Peltier went well. When I shared I was fearful that I wasn't progressing the way I should, she said she was pleased with progress. She reassured me that I have made headway. She says I have no clue how sick I was and that I went untreated for so long and because we cannot use Prednisone, it will take longer. I feel better about it. I will now be starting on Imuran (sp?) but I've decided to hold off a few days because while we were driving home from Milwaukee I developed a severe dizzy spell and earache. Both passed quickly, but now I seem to have a dandy head cold. I'm a bit afraid the cold would mask reaction symptoms.
While in the waiting room (I was there 3 hours because husband dropped me off on his way to Chicago) I met another Myasthenic. She was very sweet and I will be inviting her to join DS. She had a book, Coraggio! Lessons for Living From an Italian Grandmother Despite Illness, Pain and Loss that sounds good. It is about a lady that has RA and MG. We had a little book club going in the waiting room as others joined in the conversation. LOL

Sounds like a good visit Deb. So glad for it too. Those visits can be scarey and frustrating many times. Glad you are getting treatments that are working for you. Yippee to that!!!

Good luck with Imuran. I started in Oct and am feeling that it is working. I have cut back on mestinon and prednisone and symptoms are much less :)

Glad you had a positive appointment Debbi. I know it\'s scary going on a big drug but hopefully it will work and get you feeling stronger for longer periods. For me, it will be a year in June since began tacrolimus and am feeling pretty well! (I hate to write it or say it out loud for fear it will jinx me:)

Hi Debbi, Glad to hear that your appointment went well. I have been taking Imuran for almost 7 yrs now and tolerate it very well. I hate getting head colds, they really knock me down. You take care now and get lots of rest.

Gail! Thanks for the phone call! Love right back at you! Thank you all for your loving care. My specialist expects to have me \"back to normal\" by summer. I\'ll be on meds yet, but hopefully heading back toward a bit of my old life. Wiser, though.
Debbie, I\'m so glad your neuro was able to point out to you the progress you\'ve made! I think we are too close to it to see objectively and need someone to point things out to us sometimes. I love too that you met another myasthenic in the waiting room! The book sounds good and I am about to go look into it.

Good news from neuro....I didnt realize how bad off i was till prednisone started kicking in.. thanks for info on book sounds like great reading....I am old school and will have to check it out at the library. Wish my waiting room experiences were as fun as yours!

I watched a youtube video of that author the other day and I found it very inspiring! I loved her and the messages she gave during the clips! How wonderful for you to have met a new friend!
