Spanish ii

My Spanish rebellion didnae ever reach the music. Perhaps my favorite thing about music is that it doesnae mix well with politics. Even the most rousingly political of music has a spirit which reaches far beyond the politics of its birth. A good song is a good song, even when I don't know the words, much less the politics. When I was working to not understand Spanish conversations I especially didn't want to hear, my most effective ploy was to sing one of my favorite Spanish songs. Quietly. It doesn't take much white noise to block a conversation a few feet away.

I made my first step toward reintegrating Spanish into my morning meditations this morning with a mass reader I picked up at the church yesterday. It wasnae a peaceful meditation, but it wasnae too painful, either. Small steps, big faith and lots of prayer.

I still have fantasies of translating the works I have done in Spanish. . . Maybe some day. . . Technically, 'tisnae too great a task. 'Tis that damned head noise which keeps paralyzing the project. More small steps, big faith and even more prayers, en cualquier idioma.
