Sort Of Running Face First into a Brick Wall!!!
My best friends mom, my second mom, passed away from cancer, a battle she fought and lost for ten years, just over a year ago.
For as long as I can remember on New Years Day she threw a huge fondue. Friends, family, people who just needed to feel some warmth. She would do it with the help of her mom, my best friend(her only daughter) and myself. Two days we would cut meat and fruit, double check the oil stock, argue over what chocolate we wanted for the dessert fondue.
This past New Years Day my best friend took it onto her shoulders to host a fondue. Continuing on a tradition her mother held so close. I took a fair amount of photos, trying not to intrude and be in people's faces, but to make sure I had enough. For Dee's birthday in late July I am making her a scrap book in memory of her mother documenting her first solo fondue.
But I keep hitting wall after wall. It feels like no matter how I arrange things on the page, they don't do enough justice to Lisa. None of the pictures look right, nothing seems proper. If I use bright colours, it feels to bawdy, if I use dark colours it seems depressing, and Lisa was a bubbly person.
I really do want to do this, but nothing I do feels good enough to honor Lisa. Nothing feels like her.....
I'm really stressed about it right now, good thing I have four months to ponder it.
