Sometimes I Need A Kick
Sometimes I need a kick to get my life in gear. I received one nearly three weeks ago that resulted in my life again taking another turn for the better.
It happened at work--a dizzy spell so intense I ended up in ER. Followed by a week with no sales. There's nothing wrong with me, except I'd let the stress of dealing with my father and my job take me down. But now it's three weeks later and the changes I've made are wonderful. Here's what I've done:
1. I put the phone down when talking to my father. He's the king of negative speaking and hurtful words. So when he gets started, I literally sit the telephone on the table and let him continue to scream and holler. It's been weeks since we had a continuing conversation and he hasn't noticed. I know he's saying horrible things about me, but because I don't hear what it is, our relationship has improved.
2. I've had my medical power of attorney switched to my step-daughter and cousin. She's like my daughter so it actually makes sense. That takes a lot off my mind like having my father making decisions regarding me. He's a cruel man and I had many sleepless nights worrying about just such a eventuallity.
3. I'm on blood pressure meds too. My pressure went down to normal within the first week. Back when I tried this last year, they didn't work. I was under too much stress. Now I'm not.
4. I'm buying a condo too. I'll mostly pay for the whole thing, so that gets rid of my stress over not having anyplace to live if I lose my job. I used to have nightmares about this whenever my father talked about how I could always move back home.
I'm gonna buy a foreclosed condo, so that's my only stress.
So all in all, if I hadn't gotten sick, I'd still be sitting in limbo. So God, thanks for the kick.

I am so proud of the changes you made in your life now. I guess going to the ER helped to focus on the important things like yourself. You are doing the right thing. I like living in a condo or apartment. It\'s great for one person. You can decorate any which way you want. You can entertain whoever you want. You are the one in control of your place. Your father sounds like a very cruel man. I hope everything works out well for you. I have my own stresses.
The apartment is still in Smokey\'s name cause he had two daughters and died with no will. I have life interest in it. Some of the people said I should go for full title. This will involve a lawyer and I have no money for it at the moment.
I am no working. If I don\'t get a job by the end of the year I will have to make serious changes in my life. With no job and just surviving (not living there is a difference) on Smokey\'s Canadian Survivors Pension at $507.66, I can\'t handle the taxes next year. I am paying this years taxes as I had some money left from the small life insurance that Smokey had in my name. Once I pay the property taxes and house insurance, it\'s gone. I was not sleeping well concerned about this. It is my major stress. I am lucky that I have no one yelling at me. The two negative things about Dave is that he is pretty frank with his words and doesn\'t sugar coat anything AND major thing is I wish he would drink less or don\'t drink and drive. He knows these things that I don\'t like about him. Dave doesn\'t like the fact that I don\'t cook much anymore and that I don\'t wash his dishes the way he likes them. I have a dishwasher so am not that good at washing his dishes by hand.
Major things for me to think towards fall. It weighs heavy on my heart. Not only that but I am going through menopause. I haven\'t had a period for three months, get the hot flashes, night sweats and am moody. I am going through a rough time as well. I know we both will make it through by the grace of God. from Diane B.
Tuhal I am very happy to hear this. Stress can do alot to your well being. Just remember although we have choices in life we are not in complete control. We have to remember God is in control of our lives. We just have to learn to listen and trust. I will pray you continue to have peace and not worry so much. I know its easier said then done. I constantly have to remind myself too. Hugs to you. Edie
Congrats on making the choices to a better present and a brighter future!! How cool is that?!!
This shows, for me at least, what I already believed...that God is good...all the time.
I am so proud of you. I am sorry that it took an ER visit, but as you\'ve said God work in his own ways. You have made several great decision lately and taken some major steps forward. You are heading into sunlight and away from your fathers cloudy life. Congrats!!! Hugs Jane
