something i heard yesterday
something i heard yesterday about committing to a plan of action in life,
it was on a documentary about Wolfgang Puck (on Disney Plus.)
Puck said that our opportunities in life are like hopping on a train that's
leaving a station. There might be all these trains and they may take us in a direction that we hope willl lead
somewhere but if the direction turns out to be the wrong direction on the train we get on then
we have to hop on another train. It was really strong to me as I think
we might think life that we have to be sure but ultimately there is always
the unknown we have to committ to as well.
Then this morning I saw a cartoon made by a favorite of mine, Charlie Mackesy.
In summary it made me think that we may think we will reach a whole state of being
one day - like we will be a finished product one day (and then our lives will start) but
instead I think we have to accept our state of transition with everything - always -
scruffy as we may be - and get on with what we'd like to do - even so.

I need a plan to get myself out of bed in the morning, but I get frustrated to paralysis when I take that plan too seriously. The water bottle I get my coffee water from running dry doesn't need to spoil my whole day. My plans run smoother (or dissipate more peacefully) when I let every day/plan/dream have a life of it's own.
I've pondered a time or fifty about reaching that "whole state of being." What then? Spending the rest of eternity in one single state of being, whole or broken, sounds kind of boring. Seems more appealing to think of myself as "Sand Art." Once I reach my pinnacle of beauty, blow me away and start anew. A great work of art is worthy of many versions.
thanks arfie. that's really the gist of it. Structure of work and commitments really helps me
stay viable psychologically. I might be able to deal with abstractions when inspired by a general goal
or helping others - or work - but when I'm alone - my mind splays and as it just happened a little while
ago - my anxiety spiked my body and hands were shaking - I didn't know what to do next - which I think is what caused the problem - so I made lunch and food is calming - and now I just have to again get on with the day.
Will write a few texts..
peace A!
I think it’s good and healthy to never stop growing or learning and to never lose curiosity.
But also important to learn to love who or what we are. Not what everyone perceives or what ideas may have been molded - but really owning the person we have grown to become. Be who you want to be and learning to love who that person is.
I’ve wrestled so much of what others expect of me and fell into extreme disappointment with myself because it’s not good enough for some people. And that’s a mental torture of disproportionate measures. Learning to embrace the person I have become, and it can be a lonesome road but a pretty universal standard on the highway of life. Or railroads of life.
Absolutely life will throw out missed trains and not reading the train schedules correctly and having to make some other adjustments. Learning to go with the flow is part of the unexpected adventures of life.
thanks Nikki!
