something about the nuns

When I worked at the market, it took me a while

to get used to my boss's personality -

but I knew to stay in my own lane and not let her persona

dictate the kind of job I would do for the store. It was

survival and determination to keep on keeping on

with what i needed to do.

She would bark orders and push buttons

until I realized that it was just her way of doing business.

one day she even said 'you know mark, this is just 'what i do''

so I started to take some humor in her barking orders

and just a kind of athleticism - like we're a team sport

and she is one hella loudmouth quarterback or even Lucy to my Charlie Brown.

I started reaching out to her socially and we've even become friends.

So why name this post about the nuns?

I am realizing it's quite the same dynamic really.

They're all sweet and kind and graceful much of the time

but then if you're a long term person here, like I am, - the sweetness - starts

to be interspliced with just barking orders... hehe

there is so much pressure to be spiritually in tune here -

but maybe that pressure comes from me 

I'm learning to be in my own lane here at the monastery

and not let the interactions with barking nuns get in the way 

of or make me feel downtrodden - 

amen!

after a while all that niceness does become exhausting.

perhaps it's just a matter of go with the flo' :)
