some kind of wonderful.
a very special story.
sam called to share this with me and i can't wait to share it with you.
a lady piano teacher with more than forty years teaching experience had always wanted a grand piano. it was always beyond her reach. She taught her many many students on an upright piano.
then her sweet husband gave her a card this past Christmas. inside the card it said, "Darling, go pick out your piano......find your grand!"
she contacted my son sam - now this couple is currently measuring their space for the piano of her dreams.
and yet this is only a tiny part of their story.
this lovely woman lost her husband of many decades to cancer. it was a long, difficult and valiant struggle for this loving couple. she looked up an old, dear friend from college. for support, for compassion. the two woman supported each other through this difficult time.
and then her friend had a stroke. she went through a series of strokes that ended in her death. and sadly the piano teacher's mate lost his battle to cancer and also passed away. it was a hard time for these two widowed spouses as they coped with heartbreak and loss. over time the piano teacher and the husband connected. they had spoken here and there but never really talked after some time had passed.....after they they both suffered the loss of the loves of their lives.
time passed... eventually this pair found themselves falling in love. they are both in their eighties. and recently wed........her generous and loving husband gifted her with her dream of a piano........but is this the end of their story?
not quite........recently they were flipping through old photo albums. they stopped at one photo in particular. she stopped wide-eyd and stared.......for there she was, fourth from the left.......in the photo from his first wedding. and now she was his new bride......
yes, they met, but only briefly during the crazy hectic time of their wedding......it was a big wedding and she was one of many bridesmaids.........in the early 1940's.
the husband knew she was an old college pal of his first wife.........and she knew also, but neither of them realized she was one of the bridesmaids in HIS first wedding until they came to that photo....
some seventy years later........people don't look the same as they did in their youth.
and yet, here they are........in love, married and happily planning to fulfill her lifelong dream......that grand piano. beyond their grief, against all odds, God put two people together to share love, companionship......at this stage in their lives very comforting and some kind of wonderful.........
she was in a bridesmaid dress fourth over from the left........in a photo from the early 40's. life is a mystery........
you never know how it will turn out.........
p.s. sam has planned a birthday party for his mom.....tomorrow we go to dinner than we're all going to paint individual masterpieces in acrylic.......should be FUN!

That is such a sweet story! I am always amazed at how older people still have hope in love continuing on into their twilight years. To know that they once met is a wonderful coincidence. I hope she finds the perfect piano! Have a great birthday party, and let your creative talents soar!
