softness fall.....evening beckons.
i was standing by the kitchen sink......staring off into the lingering light of day.
the lush branches of green tucked protectively around thisl quiet sanctuary........i was slowly doing dishes.......ones that had been waiting for attention longer than usual..........
heard the strains of "This Little Light of Mine" ........one short phrase at a time, the timbre of the voice was slightly husky, softer, sweeter and a lot slower than usual.
it wasn't the child's voice of my youth, this voice was lodged in great great great great great great grandfather trees, boughs laden with stunning mysterious spanish moss........mossy old bricks, beautifully scrolled iron gates.......columns of homes from a bygone era........a beautifully long tree lined carriage ride away from this era........swept up by a steady sweet voice singing of comfort, taking me to a place of ease.
"this little light of mine"..........."i'm gonna let it shine".........."let it shine, let it shine, let it shine"
i can almost feel the sand between my toes........the sound of the waves in my ears.........hear a river boat steadily chugging down the Mississippi.......see the grandeur, feel the life in that river.........the dishes disappeared, there was nothing left in the sink but the sudsy hands of a dreamer........
the dandelions have closed up shop for now, all their bright yellow heads are tucked in for the night......and i am lost in my memories, tomorrow was momma's birthday.......i had almost six glorious years of her love, time and attention before everything changed - hold onto the good, the happy, the sweet - treasure the good stuff..........have a peaceful evening.
i'm gonna go hang out with the kitty kitties.......georgia bird girl

Far out Ruthie !! Strangest thing, although maybe not so strange for me.I just went to your profile and was thinking about that song and started singing it out loud to myself, while lying here sick on my bed. Then decided to check your new journal and there you were talking about the song.Wow!! Swear to God just picked up on it before I even read it . Let it shine..Let it shine ..Let it shine.Lovedyourbeautiful story of days gone by, but right there with you in the moment. Bye from Di xo

I love that song. When I\'m feeling the need to be silly, I sing to my dogs...\"this lil dog of mine, I\'m gonna let him shine\". I\'ve always done that, replace words in songs. Like...\" I guess...you\'d say....what would make me feel this way...my dog, my dog, my dog...talking bout my dog, my dog\". I know, I\'m nutty. They love it. Guess that\'s what happens when you\'re house bound for too long. Lol. ;) Hugs sweet Ruthie...
That is lovely! Did you mom pass when you were a child? I can\'t really tell from this post, sorry. I love the way you make the most of small moments in life. You are such an encourager! We all need to learn to do that more, but you are already on top of it. : ) Hope you are feeling well this week. xoxo, m
Memories, oh Serce, I know all too well how you feel. The sweet ones are the keepers, the ones that sustain us now. Oh how I know. Love, Love, Love Ya Little Bird.
So nice, love ya sweet Georgia bird girl! xo
