Socialism
I think I like Socialism. Though I totally respect
and appreciate the firey nature and spirit of individualism
which drives us forward. It's really a balance and a mixed bag.
I appreciate those who have pushed me and helped me get
to the places I have come to in my life.
I am starting to appreciate and be wary of the seduction of things that can
consume and influence me in my walk through life. I want to be self responsible
and not be a burden. Though I don't know what it's like to live in a socialist country
my assumption is what is driving this post.

Dunno. . . I'm one of those folks who believe the U.S. is currently more socialist than Rome or Russia ever managed to accomplish, but in larger fact I place that debate in the same bin as the conservative/liberal debate. This decade's liberal is next decade's conservative. In any decade, 100% remains rare in Nature. None of us is pure anything. One of my pervy tickles is finding the staunchest liberal in the room and finding their most conservative stance and vice versa.
But I hold that ". . .the seduction of things that can
consume and influence me in my walk through life." belongs in a different debate class, entirely. Change that personal pronoun to plural and a prohibition is born. If I can't accomplish it myself, I'll pass a law to make you accomplish it for me. That human illogic has found its way into every political concept ever implemented. There's never been a successful prohibition, but all the politicos keep trying.
Enter the wonder if true insanity is trying the same thing over and over while expecting different results. . .

individual based and so whatever brings the pigs to trough is somehow the spirit. I feel like we have so many issues that need to be fixed here - like a good education system and a healthcare system too. I don't want to get too political, but I just feel like there's a basic social consideration rather than atavism that should win in our country. Like Canada, or like even the UK or Australia or New Zealand.
Wherever you find billions of people, you will find trillions of problems. Is it anarchy to believe the best solutions are strictly personal?

I know that sometimes the group think can be to keep people in their place (don’t rock the boat) so I really believe that if you have the initiative you should be encouraged to go as far as you aim. I just also think that there should be societal considerations. Maybe just responsible capitalism is the answer?
I have lived in a socialist nation as part of my career. The going away impression was that few people really tried that hard to achieve success or to stand out. If you worked hard, then you'd pay more to the State, so everyone works the minimum or just the average. That squishes individualism and personal achievement.

Now, we do have a bit of socialism for the poor in this country. Our safety net is very generous, actually the highest on the planet. Currently, the federal budget is over 50% for our safety net. So I think there is a fair amount of socialism.

Sorry. Been there a lot and moved all over the place. Pretty good but bad politics and taxes are too high. This why I moved to Florida - no income taxes.
