Snags along the way
Here's one for you - on legal papers, such as job applications, I must still use and sign my old female name - until I can progress to changing legally all of that. But I don't look feminine; and I'm supposed to go by my male name. Can you see a problem? Potential employers may shy away from hiring anyone so confusing for them to deal with.
Also, it's time to re-up for help from the Department of Social Services; and the same problem looms there.
I'm figuring that the direct approach will work best - be open and up-front about what's going on, and hope for open-minded employers and case workers.
After all, if they won't hire me because of what's going on, why would I want to work there?
On a different note, I have found that actually eating six times a day DOES help loose weight. I eat small meals - smaller portions - and healthy snacks in carefully measured portions throughout the day, and it seems to kick my metabolism into gear. I've lost about six pounds just doing this over the past two weeks; and lost inches - a couple - around my middle. I'm also making wiser food choices - reducing the junk food and replacing it with healthier options. Plus, I eat when my body tells me it's hungry; not out of boredom or while doing other things like watching TV.
In the area of family.... My mother's sister - my favorite aunt - suggested I write a book about what's happening with my transitioning process. I had already been mulling that over; and now I think I might look into it. Also, Mom has said that I shouldn't talk about what's happening when my brother and sister-in-law who moved in with her are around. It makes them uncomfortable; they are fine with me doing it, just not comfortable with the details.
I'm still getting moved in - gradually moving my stuff, one pickup truck load at a time, as gas and time allows. Sadly, this means I don't get to spend much time with my cats - my furry companions aren't moved in the new house yet. I hope to transport them next week - I miss those little guys! It isn't "home" without them. I've been sorting and disposing of stuff as I move, trying to fight the clutter-impulse. It's like how they say planets formed - one bit of clutter attracts another, and those attract more, until it forms a critical mass and gravity takes over, sucking everything in to make a clutter-planet. So, the clutter's GOT to go!!! In my case, it's mostly paper clutter. I've been tossing it out as fast as I can, trying to organize what I have to keep and trim it back to controllable levels. Here's where the absence of my furry friends helps - no paws pushing sorted papers into the floor, no furry bodies acting as paperweights in the midst of my efforts.
Another busy day ahead.
