small victories
I am quite proud of myself today. Not only have I lost 18 lbs in 2 weeks, but I got up this morning and did 63 steps on the treadmill.( a new personal best) I started out only able to do 10 steps, then 25, then 50 and now 63. No guarantee i can do that every time, but I am proud of the progress. Today I took my mom to her Dr appt. This is usually very labor intensive for me, since I find walking even a very short distance very difficult. Since my mom refuses to walk I have to go into the back room of the dr office to get a wheel chair, go back to the car, load her up, wheel her into the office and into the exam room then back out to the car, load her in the car and take the wheel chair back to the dr office. I am usually already tired just after retrieving the wheel chair. (not to mention my mon is also very heavy). Usually by the time I get done I am irritable and exhausted and I usually come home and go straight to bed. Today, I am tired and my feet hurt but I still feel like I can do some time on the treadmill and maybe even get some filing done. My final victory today was that it was very hot today so we went to DQ to get something to drink. I ordered a small moo-latte and my mom got a soda. I didn't like my moo-latte, so I traded with my mom. I am a soda addict so that's a dangerous thing to do, but I only drank a couple of drinks then dumped it out. I felt kind of empowered that I didn't have to drink the moo-latte and I didn't have to drink the soda either. I jsut had what I needed to quench my thirst and threw the rest away. Considering the battle I have had with soda that is just short of miraculous. So I feel good. Only 8 lbs to go to meet the doc's requirements for the gastric bypas and only 18 to go to meet my personal pre-surgery goal.
