Sleep Stuff
Today was a pretty normal day. I woke up an hour before my alarm, but wanted to try and go back to sleep to see if it would wake me up. I didn't manage to get back to sleep, but I determined that my alarm isn't loud enough to wake me up. Not with the fan going full blast. Geo needs to sleep with a box fan on full blast... it's something that he's done since he was a kid to block out all the noise and cool him down while he sleeps. I don't blame him.. I like sleeping with it on too. I've gotten used to it, and it allows him to play his video games and stuff while I'm trying to sleep. I need a lot of sleep, as those of you who read my journal know. It's because of the bipolar. I need at least 10 hours of sleep most of the time, but lately it's been more like 12 hours. I don't know why, but I need a ton of sleep for the past 6 months or so. When I was in LA I was getting a bit less sleep, but then I started needing more again as it started to come time for me to leave. Now that I'm home again I need my sleep. I wish there was a way for me to get less sleep and not go crazy.
I've done experiments with sleep in the past... especially in college. I tried getting 6-8 hours and that sent me hypomanic. With only 4 hours of sleep I start to forget important information, like my phone number and start getting confused on what my name is. I once called myself Michelle because I was standing next to a girl named Michelle. I know that's stupid, and so I try and get my sleep. 10 hours used to be good for me, and I hope that soon I can get back to that. It would mean I would be able to work more hours at the clinic and get balanced out sooner. I just wish I had something to do all the time... going online is nice, but it gets boring after a while. I can't be online for 10 hours a day like I used to at my old job. I would get bored out of my mind.
I've been thinking of bringing something to do with my hands while at work. I get bored often since I'm on hold for long periods of time. Today I was on hold for 18 minutes, just to be told I have to fax them the information and they would call me back to schedule the appointment. In other words, I didn't have to wait on hold, I could have just faxed them and be done with it. I did learn some new stuff today.... I learned how to bring up patients files and print them. I knew for the most part how to bring them up, but not how to print. Everyone at work is fighting over me now. All the women there know I do a good job and want me helping them. It's nice to be appreciated. Tiffany, one of the women there thanked me today for helping her on Friday, since she had a lot to do. I also taught her a trick with the insurance company to find doctors easier. It's good to know that I'm making a difference and making life easier for the people I work for.
Mood today was good... I didn't really want to go to work but I did. I got through a lot of work today, and I'm learning slowly how to do the entirety of what Managed Care does, from getting the referral from the doctor, printing out the reports, finding a doctor that takes their insurance, and making the appointment. I also know how to fax the authorizations. All I need to learn now is how to do the letter to the patient and putting the authorizations into the computer. I feel good knowing that I'm learning more and more each day. It gives me something to look forward to. I also hope that Terry, the boss of Managed Care, sees that I can do so much and hopefully give me a job. I would like that, but I need to get some practice working 20 hour weeks. If I can do it for a month, I would like to think that I would be able to do it for good.
Food today was good... I was in my calorie range, despite a 3am binge on cookies. I just made sure to be good the rest of the day. I did have some of my chocolate covered espresso beans, but I didn't put half and half in my coffee, I just used regular creamer. I had chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner. Lunch was seafood soup that they made at work. One of the things that I don't like too much about working longer hours is that I get hungry and I always end up in the cafeteria at work. I know I can bring my own lunch, but that just seems like a pain to me. I know that there is food in the house that needs to be eaten, so I should be eating it, but I prefer the fresh food from the cafeteria. Oh well, I will have to make do with what I'm given. I don't have any other choice.

One of my tools to fill waiting time is doing Sudoku puzzles. I always have some printed and tucked in my purse. Would your work let you do something like that? If so I have a great website where you can print your own and various levels of difficulty.
how wonderful to be so appreciated!! you are getting so good at the computer, im jealous, i know nothing, lol. you are so helpful and kind, must be a jem to work with. you seem to be doing good with the hours, going when you dont want, that i think you would be ok working and getting paid for those hours. thanks for explaining the sleep and that you are not angry with me, i was nervous. i know you say you like fresh food, but maybe if you packed a lunch the night before, or some snacks, they would be done and ready and you would allow yourself more choices and save money, just a thought. how many espresso beans did you get, id be jumping off the walls if i had one.
