Sleep during Grief/Mourning process.

I have not cried a lot since I found out my brother Don had passed away.  The Richmond Memorial Service was a success.  I was greatly surprised when we had close to one hundred people attend his memorial service.  Wow!  Blow me over with a feather.  I am worried about myself since I have not cried a lot since Don passed away.  My grief is coming out in the form of not sleeping a lot maybe six hours at best.  Last night I slept through but usually I wake up for a few hours before going back to bed.  Has anyone experienced this at all?  Curious minds would like to know from DianeB

I have. When my mom passed I didn\'t cry a lot as she stressed that leaving this world meant she was in Heaven--something to be happy about, not sad. So I made it a point not to cry much. In fact, my whole family is that way--stiff upper lip and all that, even though we\'re not British.

I had a hard time sleeping after Mom passed. I kept waiting to see her in my dreams when I did sleep. I got about five hours a night. Even under normal circumstances I wake up during the night. I might even watch a television program or at least a few minutes of one. That\'s why I\'ve taken to going to bed super early as they say that even if you\'re not sleeping, you\'re still getting rest.

Yes. I see what you mean. I stay in bed for half hour and if I still not sleep, I get up either watch TV or go on the computer to play a game. One of the two makes me sleepy and then I go back to bed/sleep as well.
