Signs and wonders

Yesterday sucked..initially. My daughter came home from school as usual, like a whirlwind. I let her know that she was still in a holding pattern with her IPad for using it the night before for some pretty explicit texting...eewww. Any way she also was told that she could not use the phone until I got an authentic apology for her lying, blame throwing. Etc. her way to solve it said that she is moving out and took the phone and called her boyfriend of one week to ask if she can move in with him at his aunts house...then I was assaulted with a litany of my parental failures which include, but are not limited to: Strictness, ( making her responsible for consequences) over protectiveness, (not letting her have sex with her new boyfriend of one week), and last but not least, making her obey the Christian rules of the house, ie, treat others with respect, not judging classmates, no naked or half clothed pics, the usual abusive parenting stuff.
Oddly enough, there was no mention of healthy food, heat, clothing, safety, no drugged or drunk parenting, and all the other amenities she gained upon adoption. I was feeling pointless and redundant as I listened to more and more of it, then I thought about how grateful I was that Patrick, now had a Heavenly view of the situation..He could see past all of the bull pucky that she used to turn him against me, time and time again. The last words he spoke to me were about how badly I spoke to her. He usually only heard one side, hers.
As I was doing the dishes and hurting beyond measure, I broke to use the bathroom. As I sat down, I saw it, the white feather at my feet..and i knew without a doubt, that HE knew. I got a peace in my soul that she could not understand..she tried for the rest of the night to egg me on in front of our study group..I did not bite, I will not bite again....

Oh my gosh Lauri. It is so hard raising children.
My sister is 11 years older than me so my nieces and nephews are quite a bit older than our children. I was once complaining about Lisa and Andrew\'s behaviour and how hard it was to parent. My sister smiled and said \" Little kids, little problems; big kids, big problems\". She was so right.
How wonderful that Patrick was there to let you know that he is okay and understands.
Hang in. Parenting is not easy.

Those teenage years are SO challenging and now with all the technology that grabs and gobbles them up, even more so. Standing your ground takes so much energy and I know can be so very hard, yet you must as you are.

Love that you received your white feather from Patrick letting him know he is with you. Douglas speaks with feathers too and if I even began to share all the obscure places they have been found I could write a book. :) Always a hello from our BEloveds and SO very needed and welcomed. Thank you, Patrick!

Hoping today is a gentler day dear Lauri.

Loving care,
XO Joanie

You reminded me how incredibly difficult it is to have teenagers. I guess I will stick to the drama of going up and down the stairs with one foot while dragging my knee scooter up with me. It is so nice Patrick sent you a sign. Kind of makes you think he now understands!
Sending love during this difficult time,
Leda

Sorry you are having to deal with this...parenting is hard...especially when there are large issues...Just wanted you to know that as I was reading this, I kept saying to myself (let her take it to school and let them take it from her) and sure enough as I get to the end, it happened--lol) I used to work at a middle school and high school with behaviorally challenged youth...so I saw this time and time again. Good job mom, holding your cool and your ground and making boundries,
