sick and scared.
I'm scared... I'm 19 years old and for no apparent reason my health is deteriorating. I haven't been on here much lately because of it. It has happened so quickly. I've lost a lot of weight just in the past 2 months and we can't figure out why. I've never been really big to begin with, so weight loss is not a good thing. I am away at college so I don't see my family too often. I went home for thanksgiving and my mother got very upset with me about my weight. I understand that she is worried, but I've tried everything. I cannot help it. I'm down to 91 lbs. I'm starting to look scary and sickly. I do not have and eating disorder, but a lot of people are accusing me of it. It is frustrating. Things are becoming dangerous and we cannot figure out why or how to make me gain weight again. I hide my emotions, but inside I'm terrified. I don't know what to do. Please help.

Oh Hannah, that sounds like an awful place to be as you try & find out the reason. Have you seen PCP & what are they suggesting e.g. blood tests, scan, Specialist visit. What is your Rheumy saying? Are you having any symptoms like celiac or gut problems? Can your parent or a knowledgeable friend (Nurse, etc) help you by discussing what medical help you need. Sometimes when we\'re feeling sick & scared it\'s hard to keep our thinking logical & to know what to do next. Keeping you in my thoughts & hope to hear of some good news soon. Take care, Anna
\"I hide my emotions, but inside I am terrified!\" After years of soul searching, I believe \"hidden emotions\" will make one sick.
I was hit with RA 2-3 weeks after my Mom died...never having a symptom before! I was at a wedding at 5 and in the emergency room in severe pain at 9...I have no idea where you stand emotionally Hannah but I do know where I did. These are the emotions I hid: anger, sadness, resentment, frustration, loss, fear. etc.......I truly beleive, RA allowed me to deal with all of these feelings...I came from a family of sexual and physical abuse and stuffed my feelings of this forever..as my family was an upstanding family in our town..I am not saying these things happened to you, I am saying, I have found \"hiding my \"emotions\" took it\'s toll on me and RA (being laid flat) made me face them..Scary! I am here if you ever need to talk, share, vent.
Take care of yourself and hopefully you will find your way to inner peace.
Hugs....Vicki
Hannah, please do get yourself to a doctor. There\'s got to be an underlying cause, and it\'s time to find out what that is. Have your eating habits changed, or is this weight loss in spite of eating as you always have? IF so, there\'s definitely some blood tests to be done. Don\'t be scared, the sooner you can get the docs to ID what\'s going on, the sooner you can get better. Hugs and hope for you feeling better soon, Lisa
Hannah, are you working with a doctor with the medical services on campus? or your rheumy? Blood work ok? I know when I\'m in a lot of physical pain I eat less than normal. Vjewel spoke real words of wisdom regarding hiding emotions. If you want to talk, please let me know. Holiday time can be even more stressful than usual. Please know you are not alone. Rose
Hi Hannah I am so sorry to see that you are having a difficult time. I know that weight loss is a symptom of RA and it can also be caused by depression as well. I looked at your medications you listed and I see that you have only be given drugs for pain. The celebrex and naproxen are both NSAIDs and are used to help control pain from arthritis.
You are not on any antirheumatic drugs to control your RA disease. Are you taking something you haven\'t listed? If not you need to let your rheumatologist about your weight loss. It could definitely be caused by RA or depression.
In the meantime, keep us posted on how you\'re doing okay? I hope you can get this under control and feel better. Take good care of yourself, hugs jilly
I\'m going to the doctor today. Pretty nervous, but we have got to figure out whats wrong, I\'m still loosing. Blood sugar has been high this week too and can\'t get it to go back down, so I\'m gonna have to go.
Pray that we can figure something out,
-Hannah
