Shit happens
Whenever will it stop?
I got a call this morning from our son. He was in tears. Someone torched the comic book store that he manages. I don't know how much damage there was but he put his heart and soul in to that place.
Not only that but a friend from way back called to tell me that she was in hospice care and was dying. She was right. She died a week later. She lived about 300 or 400 miles from us so we didn't see each other very often. She was one of those friends who you know are there and when you get together, you pick up the conversation as if no time had passed.
My other friend, who beat lung cancer called to tell me that she had a mammogram and is going for a biopsy on Tuesday. Her sister had breast cancer so she isn't feeling very optimistic.
Oh yes. My good friend Michelle had 2 dogs that she adored. They were 14 years old. Both were in kidney failure and were failing. They were obviously in pain, so she made the hard decision to have them cross the rainbow bridge. I spent the afternoon with her. When the vet came, she held Keesha and I held Hailey as they transitioned. As she said, those dogs were her unconditional friends and their unconditional love got her through some of the toughest times.
Joe was supposed to go to Ottawa to spend spring break with the girls. He had his seat booked when Cevyn called to say that she and Sierra had Covid. She said she didn't want Pappa to risk going there. They were sick for a few days but are fine and back to normal now. We had the hen party anyway, and sent him to the neighbour's to watch a movie! It was a success. That was the sunshine amidst the gloom.
Of course the war in Ukraine is going from bad to worse.
So I having trouble looking on the bright side!
Lisa: I miss you more than ever. Love, Mummy

Me again. I hadn't heard from one of my best friends for quite awhile. She has had health issues for several years - severe arthritis resulting in joint replacements with complications etc. Anyway, I tried calling but she didn't answer. I emailed, and she didn't answer. I didn't think anything of is as she was never good at returning calls. But I began to feel concerned and emailed her daughter. Apparently, she has developed Dementia. She lives in Ontario, several hours from Ottawa so I haven't had a chance to visit. Her daughter lives in Edmonton. She is going to bring Barb back to Edmonton and has secured a bed in a private Dementia Care facility. I will be able to visit her as Edmonton is only 3 hours away!
Barb's sister has been a full time caregiver - she has been her nurse, chauffeur etc for several years. I have no idea what she is going to do with Barb so far away. Perhaps she will move too!
I asked myself "What next". I guess this is it!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!
OH my friend….I’m struggling to find words.

Love you!
Shitshow, I’m so sorry babe. I’m praying the grey clouds move away…xo
Isn't it crazy how everything happens at once? We go along in our bubbles and then WHAM - the shit hits the fan all over again. Hard to look on the bright side with all that going on - and why should you? Perhaps we need to give ourselves a break sometime and just wallow until things perk up. Fingers crossed things perk up for you before too long - you're overdue! Joanna x
