Sex and Intimacy

Sex and intimacy are two different things. One does not equal the other. Intimacy is becoming familiar with the other person on the inside - not becoming familiar with their body. Sex is becoming familiar with another persons body, not necessarily with the inner person.
Sex and becoming intimate can be done together, but often they are not. Friendship can be far more intimate than a sexual relationship.
Personally I crave and value intimate relationships over sexual ones. Both are healthy, but one matters more to me. And intimacy is so much harder find/establish. I am heterosexual and it seems men in general are more interested in sex than in becoming intimate. In fact it seems men will
even crave sex while at the same time shy away from intimacy.
Sex is not a substitute for growing close to someone.
