self talk

This morning I woke up at a dazzling 830am. So nice!

I showered, got dressed, made the bed, kissed Blue and came down to chapel for coffee.

I felt a mental question mark about where I’m going in life. I know I am building a life, but outside of sustaining momentum, where am I going?

I felt muddy and confused about things and grasping at straws. I finally started to self talk that I am supporting myself financially, I am taking care of my life…that’s pretty good, hunh? I thought.

I may at times look for confirmation when none seem to

Exist. Taking a moment to break things down helps. I love the relationships here. A lot of mental health challenges come into view when you live in a group. We all have them. Each our own brand of crazy.

Gentle and easy as you go…

I think I look for trappings of life at times and that reinforces me. When I step back from that I see indeed it is hard to make myself vulnerable and talk about things, I see that in my father a great deal.

I feel grateful for where I am, I am encouraged by what I am building.

Prayers and love!

Hold on tight, going to work shortly!

This same kind of question I wrote about previously

methinks the human tendency is to look for panaceas; one stop fixes that explain/fix the entire cosmic question bank and can save a soul from any future confusions. good luck. in my own psychotherapy, aligning myself to more realistic expectations was and remains therapy breakthrough. my best days are where i can accept life on life's own terms, whatever those terms may be. life is a far greater adventure when i can accomplish that, for however brief a spell.

Markus, no doubt you are a man on a mission of finding purpose.

I want to provide a gentle reminder that sometimes the simplest things serve the greatest purpose. Things like kindness, community, compassion and empathy. And you already have all of those qualities! (I hope that didn’t sound too “Glenda telling Dorothy she’s had the power all along” in Wizard of Oz!)

I am slowly locating the people in close proximity to me whom I can work through life with. It’s been a slow but steady pace but it’s coming together. I have that same wish for you. In your current community. In outer work. Sometimes its good to hone things down to a micro local level, at least what I have found in my own story!

I agree with Jan - you ROCK!
