Self control

That's one thing I'm not good at: self-control. But yesterday I worked hard at it. Instead of that second cup of coffee (that I really wanted!) I had a cup of ginger tea. No racing heart rate in the afternoon! Instead of going back up front at bed time, I closed the door and laid down. Such small things, but they are the beginning of taking better care of myself.
I did't sleep well last night. I woke up over and over. Might have been the back pain or the time of year. Spring break is almost here and that messes with my sleep sometimes. (Long story.) It might have been DH's restless sleeping. I mentioned in my med journal that he sometimes hits me in his sleep. That's a humorous thing to me, since it doesn't happen often. Every once in a long while he'll turn from his side onto his back and flop his arm over on me *hard*. The man has a heavy arm! I'll shake awake and realize what happened and he'll sleep right through it! Of course he can sleep through a hurricane (and has), so that's not terribly surprising.
My plan for today is to stay home and rest while getting as much of my reading done for school as possible. The trick will be not getting sidetracked into games and more enjoyable books. :) I am hopeful that taking it easy will set me up for a better week at work.

Jenna,
Discipline was hard for me too. But after I had a lot of crashes, I figured out how to gauge my \"energy envelope\" and develop some pretty strict sleep hygiene. Apparently it\'s very good for both SEID and depression.

How do you make your ginger tea? Teabag? freshly grated or something else? It sounds wicked good. Ginger is a superfood anyway (if I remember rightly).

Sorry you didn\'t sleep well. Your plan for the day sounds just right. Sometimes I\'ll just put my book down and close my eyes for a micro-nap. It works surprisingly well.
DH has slept through a hurricane? THAT\'S impressive, in a way...

Wishing you the best, deah,
Jack

Hey hon,
I make the tea anyway I can. Teabags if I have them (I like Yogi\'s Ginger Aid), sliced rhizomes, or grated. The teabags are easiest.

I used to be good at discipline. I was raised by the Navy after all. And I married the Army for all that. But when he got out of the Army we dropped discipline like a hot potato without even realizing it. So it\'s back. One step at a time.

Sleep well tonight,

Jenna
