Seeking outside support....
Before joining DS, I was not a person who reached out for help, always dealt with it on my own. But I am so very thankful for the support and encourgement I have gotten from my special friends, here on DS.
But lately even after 10 1/2 months, it doesn't seem to be getting any easier. I feel like I am really starting to fall apart inside. So, I have decided that maybe I need to also seek outside support. I checked at the local Hospice, about what they had to offer.
I am planning on attending my first support group tomorrow night. I am both really nervous and excited about it. Not sure what to expect, but feel that it is a big step that I need to take.

I wish you all the best as you continue to try to process your grief. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, in my opinion. You are aware that you may not have all of the answers, and seeking assistance can only benefit you, Karen....good luck tomorrow night, my friend.....Joe...:-)
Good luck and keep us posted.
Hugs, Dianne
Good on you! You may find you like it, or you may find that you don\'t. Either way you will be taking an active role in your life, and learning something new. That is NEVER a bad thing. Plus, you always have the support of us here on DS. Like Dianne said, keep us posted!
it is so important to realize our own limitations. keep searching till you find what works for you, we will be here to listen and help

I wish you a good experience. Whatever it takes to get you where you want to go. Prayers, Kathy
I will be interested to hear about your experience if you want to share...I too will be going...there are a number of different groups meeting and I was told to try them all on for \"size\"....I guess group dynamics are different... I too will be anxious when I go. I think it is great that you are checking out different resources for help. Hope it goes very well for you. Love, Linda
Karen,
You are doing the right thing. Remember we have to be kind to ourselves. If you are not feeling right you should seek some support. This is not an easy Journey. I attend 2 times a month a grief support group and always look forward to going. Remember some meetings are better that others. I just find at least one thing at each meeting that I think can relate to me and go with that. Every meeting is different. I was anxious also and the first two meeting was one of only two men. Now there are three and sometimes four.
Dave
Best of luck. Hope you find some comfort and peace. Hugs, Kip.
Karen,
I joined a Grief Support Group put on by Hospic just around the 10 month mark. It helped me out a great deal. If the one you go to is anything like the one I went to I can say it really should do you some good. She had handouts for us...a video she played a little of each week and we would discuss it. And she also gave us a couple of \"homework assignments\" to do. We had a small group and I liked it a lot because it was intimate and you didn\'t feel uncomfortable talking...just so you know the first night is very hard because everyone will go over their loss and there will be a lot of tears but beleive me it gets better...good luck..hugs Ellen
