scope and practicals
A lingering thought last night and this morning is the concept
that my therapist talks about on occasion. The concept is "if we don't listen to our
emotions, we are losing out on a lot of valuable information."
That being said when I go with my feelings or listen to them I can very
often see everything tainted negatively (and I believe it) like last night...
or I can 'go down a rabbit hole' like lightning or make a mental wrong turn.
I came home from work this morning, feeling like a big blob -
work went well, I just made some 'on the fly' decisions about self management
that were something new and now that I'm home I am trying to adjust to alone time.
The blob-itude would go away.
I thought when I got home, that it was important to give myself time to recuperate ("reclaim when you get home
from work" as a friend once said.)
Then I showered and dressed and then thought that I'd really like to do something nice for myself.
Sadly, with Christmas on the way, I have to seriously budget myself.
And my enthusiasm had me wanting something big, something much bigger than
a hang out time at the local Starbucks but alas .. I felt I couldn't -
It came to me to possibly make a coffee or sit out on the balcony or write here.
It seems like when I focus on 'getting into' the scope of the activity that I am
doing, it helps. I sat out on the balcony in the sunshine which was so nice...
The air is cool but the sun is so awesomely warm.
I thought some more..I live in suburbia - there's not much going on but while writing this I thought about taking a walk at the Gillette Ranch
near here. It's a public park near here. I can do that after my therapy session oat 1215p.
After the fog of blob-itude I came home in and after showering and dressing, it came to me
to think about the practicals of life - the concrete grounding in survival
and all that I wrote above as well helped me to find some solace to my morning and day.
peace.

i agree with your therapist about missing out on allot of information when you don't listen to your emotions. in the original design, emotions are the most sensitive monitoring design ever created. they can detect elements poets, much less scientists, don't even have awareness of, much less words for.
alas, thoughts, opinions and judgements complicate the simple design beyond recognition. that ringing claxon is neither good nor bad. it is merely an alert worthy of attention. most times, resetting the proverbial alarm is all the action needed.
yay you for thinking of some of the no money ways to expand your horizons. the pleasures for sale have already been thunk of and developed. the undiscovered paths can't be bought at any price. set yourself free, just for the fun of it.
