it's a good day. had a wonderful time with my family yesterday.
then went to work this morning and worked well.
came home and was tired as 'all get out' and made some lunch,
played with Blue and decided to do a quick errand before my
11:15a online meeting with my therapist. She's great! I wasn't so
needing advice today but we had a good conversation...we talked
about the dichotomy of doing the things we 'should do' and doing the things
we 'want to do' - it was a mellow conversation - and lighthearted.
The talk was about finding a balance between those two things....
After the conversation - I decided to go to Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
My niece said she had gone for one - and she has one every year she said -
so I was inspired to treat myself...I came back home and crashed big time on the couch.
Slept a good hour or so...and then I decided to get up and buy myself some beer and cookies.
Not the healthiest choice - so I decided to just have a little. The cookies themselves were
kind of gross - too sweet and artificial tasting - I'll put them away or maybe throw them away.
I deserve better. I am not going to eat stuff that I think is gross. They were a Trader Joe's impulse buy.
The beer is one of my favorites. It's become a kind of acquired taste - and now I enjoy it
like a nice refreshment.. I had only one - I have no need to escape this reality - and one
is definitely enough. The rest will be for the rest of the weekend and week ahead!
Now I'm watching the PBS Newshour tribute to RGB. Such a loss.. my words are insufficient...
but admired her and her work.
I like how the Rabbi who spoke at one of her memorials said that a person who sees what's wrong
with world and can see and make the improvements to it, is better known as "as Prophet."
I hope you guys are having a good day... Sending hi fives, and knuckle and elbow bumps.
Have a good weekend!! Peace, Mark

Thanks Rich!! You as well!!
High five and elbow bump to you! I just can’t get into pumpkin spice lattes. I’ve tried! I guess I don’t love fall enough haha.
RBG changed american humanity and I encourage her memory to be part of our American conscience.
Happy weekend!
thanks Sensitive!!
It sounds like a really nice day Marky.... That's great!!!.....xo
Thanks Jan!! Have a hygge weekend!
I have another element I factor into that tug-a-war. Availabilities. All too often, what I need is not an available option. Coronaville has been a culture wide illustration of what I believe are basic human needs being unavailable. 6 months without a support group meeting feels like an invalidation of 40+ years of psychotherapy. I definitely do not feel safe. Some days I wish I **could** be as afraid of The Virus as everybody keeps telling me I **should** be.
I balance that never ending tug-a-war between wants, needs and availabilities with humility. My wants are mere preferences. It's always dandy to get my preferences but hardly the end of the world if I have to go with what is available. My notions on what I need are matters of personal opinion. Again, I go with what's available.
