scan results

Hello friends,
Steve had scans last Wednesday and the doctor came into the room with the scan results in his hand.  Printed out and ready to go over.  This is why I love going there.  No long wait to hear the results and sweating bullets all the while.
Everything appeared stable. He is not able to have contrast anymore because of the condition of his kidney.  Therefore the  picture is not as clear to the radiologist. But we were and are so grateful to be stable.  His creatine was the lowest it has been in months. Yes!  good news!  I know he has been feeling so much better.  It is like one morning he got up and said I feel better!  He has been completely off the meds now for over a month. The only thing he takes now is a pill to help with nerve damage.
I shutter when he sneezes or when he gets sick on his stomach like he did this morning.  That's exactly how he broke his rib in the first place,  trying to throw up.  He starts another round of Sutent Thursday night.
His doctor told him that in November he will be the longest patient on Sutent ever at Carolina's Medical Center. Six Years!!!  I can remember how scared we were to start it along with all the terrible side effects it brought.  The doctor kept tweaking the meds until he found the right combination that worked for Steve.
It's not easy, even on a good day to face the day to day sickness that cancer brings.  But we continue to serve God and when the time comes with a new set of problems we will face them with God's help.
One last thing,  has anyone heard from Becca?
Much love,
Wanda

Wanda, sweetheart, that is wonderful news. It is only in the last three years that \"stable\" has become such a wonderful word and I know how much this will have meant to Steve and to you.
Love you, dear lady

Hello Dear Wanda,

What a FANTASTIC report! Stable is the next best thing to gone!!!! So glad y\'all are happy with Steve\'s doctors in Charlotte. WOW! 6 years on Sutent is miraculous. As you know, Ray only took 14 pills before the renal failure, liver failure, etc. etc. Not having been on any treatment since July, 2009, we know that God is in charge.

When Ray has CTscans, x-rays, or bloodwork...we know the results before we leave the clinic the same day. Of course, the brain MRI\'s are done in a hospital, so we don\'t know those results for two days. We, too, feel blessed to have such a wonderful cancer center and doctor.

I\'ve been very worried about Becca. Haven\'t heard a peep from her in weeks...though have sent her emails. It really scares me when this happens. If you hear anything, please let me know, and I\'ll do the same.

Thanks for updating us, Wanda. Love hearing GOOD NEWS!

Hugs to you and Steve,
Ingrid

Dear Wanda,
So happy for you guys. What good news.....he is a miracle man. You are truly blessed. I am worried about our Becca too. Sent her a \'miss you\' hug yesterday and have tried a couple times to reach out and nothing. Maybe she has computer trouble? Hope that is all that it is. If anyone hears, let me know too.

Wanda, terrific news, and as always terrific attitude. The only way to walk through a difficult journey like this is step by step with God\'s help. Thanks for being a true example of that.

Dear Wanda, How wonderful to have a \"stable\" result. Steve has been through a lot and now that he\'s gained some strength and is feeling a little better, he will be able to help Sutent work wonders again. I hope Steve breaks all the records on Sutent...around the world if necessary, until the cure is finally found.

Take care my friend. Love, Linda
