test driving a random internet recipe. you know how you can type in a few ingredients and the net will provide you with things possible out of those things? well that's what i did, i just slid the savory meat pie into the oven to do it's thing.
the only thing i didn't have that the recipe called for was 'shrooms......so this will be mushroom free save what was in the creamy shroom soup.
the house smells redolent of spice....onion, garlic, pepper and oregano.
i'm listening to wonderfully calming music, the prep mess is all cleaned up.
yesterday wore me out. the chores, the effort of living.....i slept all night and all day. this is not a look at how much sleep i can get ....it's not that, i have always suffered with bouts of hypersomnia after periods of exertion and to keep it real i also suffer from bouts of insomnia too. equal opportunity suffering at this ranch.
the music is so lovely. there are so many times when i am in this room and i forget to add music. it's a simple ingredient to add vibrancy or mellowness.......to sort through emotions from any of life's roller coasters. music is a soul infusion.....another sign of God.
i just watched CBGB, a movie about the punk rock movement. it was odd and funny and crazy and a definite departure from what i usually watch, but i got to see how The Ramones, Iggy Pop, Blondie......Sting.......how so many bands got their start at this little funky quasi nasty uber hole in the wall bar in the bowery of NYC. Alan Rickman is an unusual actor, I love the tenor of his voice.
I've always had a thing for voices......find a voice sexier than so many others things that draw one into attraction's web. Whoooooweee.....nothing like a rich unusual tone ....
Wandering through the night.....still early, 8:33 pm EST. The neighbors across the street are all gone. The rental house next to me is finally officially empty again. The trash masters removed the final detritus (of their existence) fromt he curb. They being the young couple I tried to befriend. Took them treats, firewood, and tried to welcome them to Georgia.......ya never know they may remember be fondly or they may remember me a barely so much as a footnote in their lives. A speck of an old lady who knocked on their door. Life moves on.
The property company somebody or other was here, looking things over....I hope he walked the back yard and noticed the rather HUMONGOUS tree split in two.......the 30 plus feet of fallen broken tree lying there in the silence. So sad to see such a beautiful tree splintered and still dying. The blossoms on it still bloom. Fighting for life......still.
I recently learned that plant life has a definitive "fingerprint" of DNA just like we do.......huh! A cold case was solved based on the presence of a certain type of pod found on the clothing, in the truck bed and so on at the location of the dead body. A really bad man murdered a young pregnant woman......he didn't want to be hassled with her, with fatherhood, with the future life of his own child. He lured her to the dessert and murdered her. So much can be shown with forensics......amazing.
I'm working on a plan regarding my finances. I think I have a good one, still finalizing it, but I think if i follow this plan I can be debt free in a realistic time frame, one that will give me real peace of mind. The bulk of the expenses were for medical reasons, in my case expensive prescriptions over the past 7 years.....and there were home repairs and such. Some of it was personal spending of course, but my spending tends to be on the more frugal side.....thrift shops, yard sales and such. I need to tighten my belt sure, I did the math and realize I overspend on my income my several thousand dollars annually. My income isn't that big but I can't pretend that I still make 40% more than I used to. It's hard to come to terms with in many ways, but with a plan I can breathe better. Yes, I worked with a counselor on this and she gave me some kudos, she commented that in as far as regular spending I am quite frugal.....but the devil credit cards were taking me down. Once I get them paid off and then save a solid definitive percentage monthly I think I can experience some real freedom before I die!!!!
We don't usually talk about money here, but since I am trying to keep myself in a good place I will continue to share the good, the bad and the ugly on this journey.
This savory meat pie has ground beef, onion, garlic, pepper, eggs, cream cheese, cream of mushroom soup......the filling went into a premade pie crust and was then topped with a top crust. I put aluminum foil around the edges, placed the dark blue glass pie plate onto a speckled red baking tin and slid it into an oven of 425 degrees to bake. We'll see.......I'll try to let you know if it was edible or led to an evening of popsicles for one!
I wish I knew what this song is called, its often played at wedding pre event........so soft, I always feel as though I'm floating through the gate of a secret garden .....rich with the soft scents of spring. A spring certain to bring wonder to the eyes of those both young and old.
It's warming up again in Georgia.....from the mid twenties to 69 degrees. Crazy global warming......may our planet be saved from the wacky weather......night, love love love ya. ruthiebird

Hello, love. Your food always sounds amazing. I agree with your budgeting. I really try to reign in spending, but I am married to a spender. He doesn't go out and buy boats or computers or anything like that, but he is one to want to buy that box of donuts at the store that we don't need. I always feel like I am nagging because I'm constantly concerned about finances. I think with all the uncertainty going on in the government, it seems wise to get out of debt. I am with you. Most of my debt is about medical expenses and heating oil. Breathe... OK, I'm calm again. Love you.
Hi Ruthie! how are you doing... glad to hear you are keeping yourself busy. I hope your new recipe is delishes. Personally I don't like mushrooms. :(. Frank and I spent the day at Disney Springs today. It was a lovely day for a long walk. Soooooo many tourist!!! I'm getting excited about my trip to Pa in less than 7 weeks. I'm staying with my sisters. Spending time with both of them. I have this week off from picking up K. She's on spring break. She sure tires me out. But it gives me something to do & I get to see more of her. How is Sara feeling? Are you getting out more? My health is the same old, same old. Miss you. Big hug and prayers my friend. Xoxoxo
Food sounds good, Ruthie! I'm allergic to the kitchen! LOL! Still I can smell that concoction of yours in my minds nose! Hope it came out great!
Where's Bruce? Still around helping our wonky birdie? I hope so. Scary about that big split tree out back! Maybe the town can remove it to keep your house safe? And You? Jeepers!
Hope Sam and Sara are ok!
The spending thing is not a problem for me. I'm always in panic mode about what will go wrong in the house next that will be costly. I tend to hoard my money in savings. I don't really need much. We aren't very social animals are we? Don't need clothes. Wear my jogging suits and bathrobe around the house. Too old to bar hop, so don't need funky stuff!
Good to hear from you. Happy I was able to get here tonight. Hope your sleeping gets straightened out!
Big huggums!!! ♡♡♡
Hi Ruthie! I just caught up on your journals. Sounds like you are doing a little better ..... I hope so!
Beef pie sounds good, but that recipe would never cut it for us - Tim would eat that pie pans full all by himself!
I hear ya on the budget. If we didn't have wood heat, a garden, and deer meat we would be hurting financially. Just barely surviving is expensive! Hope you are able to budget well and get out of debt. Interest rates alone on credit cards can take a big bite!
Hugs.
Ruthie, your savory pie sounds delicious. I can almost smell it all the way from Georgia! I have also heard that plants have DNA that can be used for forensics. How interesting is that??? So cool to have one more way to catch bad guys. I remember when you reached out to your new, young neighbors. It's too bad they had to move out already, leaving a trail of things left behind and a broken tree - not their fault, of course. I admire your proactive stance on getting out of debt. We are also in a debt situation due to medical bills and vet bills - most of ours are from a lot of expensive dental work. It's hard for me to face dealing with it! But, when I did my taxes I had to take a good look at all that I spent over the year - at least it helped with my tax return. Which will just go to another bill. LOL
I am here too Ruthie, late but here, your pie sounds really tasty and I can almost smell it from here...mmmm ☺
I like your spirit and thoughts. Makes me smile. Good for you on getting out of debit, working on it.
You will get there.
It was a beautiful day here as well. Got out for a walk. Will google some food and see what comes up. Like that idea. Big Hugs and ♥ for you and greenies for kids.
