saturday already.......

a morning chat.......hello,
someone that purrs doesn't want to share the footstool with me this morning.......how rude. watered the plants and then it rained really hard.......God does the better job......go God!  Soaks the ground while I just spray water in the general direction and count out the seconds Mississippi style and move on.  God has a lot more patience than I do.
ahhhh life.......how is yours?
yesterday was a beehive of activity. i went to a Kroger's grocery store.  their theme song is this bright bouncy over the top jingle, "Let's go Krogering."  yup, it's a real toe tapper......corn is not restricted to Iowans.
they had two huge RV's sitting out front, one for a blood drive and another to help get donations for families in need of food.  there was a kiosk with ladies giving out samples of Lay's potato chips.  they had people in the entrance taking surveys about our community.......whoa.  lots of stuff going on.  my usual ingles store is very quiet, very small staff, this WAS BUSY CENTRAL.  they have a lot of staff on the floor......that offer help and say hello.  the meat man, Carl, cut up a roast for me and made it into little dining for one roasts. (4 meals plus next day leftovers for $11)
he was so nice, he bent down to my eye height like one might do with a child, put the packages in the cart basket and shook my hand.  made me feel like a beloved veteran, hard to explain, but it did.  i also get the feeling that a lot of people don't see Carl......that he gets overlooked in life.  We need to see others......see them and appreciate them.  still unfamiliar with their layout, but their electric carts are awesome.  spiffy......very zippy!  got home....side note......saved energy from electric cart usage helps save energy for other tasks.  like storing groceries. carts are good. make friends with carts, use them and/or encourage others who need to conserve energy......lol!
i used to skate and loved to race skating backwards......so i'll go ahead and admit this.
yes, i have raced backwards in the cart down an empty aisle (more than once)......shared this with my sister and she said you will always be you........that's right....i'm always going to be a pip!  shared this with Darla and she said i bet they hooted when they saw you on the security camera tape!  probably.......slowing down doesn't mean "END OF FUN".
cart vibrations do cause some repercussions. makes me super stiff.....have a really hard time rising......look seriously old/injured when i stand.  i am very ginger, tentative.......takes time to find my feet. AKS is a tough deal, so is Osteo.....all arthritis/illness is rough, but we can amend, adapt, rest, treat ourselves as well as possible. electric cart races, forward or backward are an unexpected boon. promise me that you'll always celebrate the child in you.........promise me.
on my second ice pack already ......relying on the rolling chair and the quad cane.  we are a TEAM.  ice ice baby......................!
s l o w m o t i o n......sigh, yes it hurts, but using the cart saves in many positive ways. find ways that provide the greatest good for our self care and repeat.
Kroger's Norma, wee teeny tiny Norma helped me to my car.  she said hey to me earlier, but i was preoccupied --- when i looked up all i saw was her walking away in the store uniform.  from the back she looks like a 4th or 5th grader.  i'm not kidding, she is really little, has long shiny cinnamon hair........looks like a KID.  well slap my mouth and call me a fool........she is a great grandmother......southern drawl, no nonsense kind of gal.  i was so surprised when i saw her face.......she had these amazing life wrinkles.....and brown skin......reminded me of a sunflower  & a prairie woman rolled into one. wish i could paint her, wish i could paint......lol! she had one of those steadfast no matter what comes faces that is so striking.  there is such a story in her face. some might find her plain, i saw this incredible beauty and strength.
thank you Lord for parking me in a place where i can see, where i can be still and quiet and see so many life layers............to be home to listen and think and pray.  there is a plan and you help each of us write our stories.......find the path and find our feet.
got home and realized i had forgotten to buy a key item.  noooooooooo.  say it isn't so.  bruce had already been and gone......he dropped back by to get paid and he blew the dust and dirt out of my garage.  sweet!
oh, silly stuff....i had a cd radio player  i no longer use.  long story short i gifted it to Bruce......he was tickled pink......well maybe not pink, "guys and the term tickled pink" seems like an oxymoron.  it is awkward to take the main unit and two speakers in your arms and get it down the hill....no boxes right now.
so i grabbed a smaller rolling suitcase and said use this.......he was like no no no.......and then he tried it.....said, wow, this is GREAT..........so cool......however did you think of this?  love it when i have a moment of clarity........don't ya'll??????  so off he went rolling his newly acquired treasure in a black suitcase down the long driveway.......lol.  that's one for the books.
he mowed 4 lawns yesterday.......and it was so humid and hot.  sometimes i grouse about bruce......shame on me, he is a hard worker and he does a lot for those who need lawn service and little handyman projects.  yes, i know he gets paid for his time, but working outside in this heat is horrendous.  and he is doing stuff that i cannot.....i am thankful.  he started this side business to get a home.  he & his wife Angela got the home and now he has a lot of DIY projects to do, got a great price on a fixer upper........they are happy and i am happy for them. he talks about all the work ahead --- there is such a happy pride in him about this accomplishment.......challenges and all, they did it.  overcoming a challenge doesn't mean it's all smooth sailing, something we know so well........takes a lot of patience and time to tweak and fix and do and get there.......it's a JOURNEY for everyone.
i went back out later and hit the dollar store for honey wheat bread.  walked around a bit, there were a lot of people in that small store.  got the dark brown shoe polish to mend the scuffed up scrape on my recliner, that's such a smart inexpensive solution.  wish i'd thought of it......!!!  now i have to wait until i can bend down to do it. low things and high things are soooooo challenging no?  and middle things too to be really honest.  lol.
ohhhhhh, i got a new book of devotions at the dollar store. celebrating the find!   it's a Billy Graham book......dedicated to his wife.  i've been going through such a low period for awhile, need fresh thoughts and biblical guidance too.  we all have our peaks and valleys.........Billy says it's good to retreat to the "mountains to restore ourselves" but life is in the valleys, where we grow food, where the people are.....we can't live completely in the peaks, we have to be able to do both.......so we can replenish ourselves fully, give to others and receive as well.
My chronological number, 56,  isn't super high, but my physical self is 80.  Young spirit.........older than dirt bod.  oh well. feel content.....at peace.
praying for you and the people in your lives who are in a place of physical or mental struggle, praying and praying.......I want to list all of you who have left an imprint on my heart, forgive my weariness.........God knows each of you and he knows that we are all in this together.............let's remember to remember each other........God Bless.

This post brings tears to my eyes and also a lot of smiles. Your trip to the supermarket is full of wonderful details about the people and the food and the cart. Dear MS. Pip, Maybe you could be a Nascar Driver.

Wow... I see pics of wal mart and stuff... electric carts!!!! Coooool!!!! I am a fan of cart riding (we call \'em \'trolleys\'). We must be like a simple lil\' ol\' country town over here. I know my Uncle who spent a lot of time in the States and Alaska (racing dogs in the Iditarod) has always said the variety of choice over there is amazing. Here, if you order eggs, you get a choice of scrambled or poached and you get \'em how they come! But then again, I found Europe to have even less so than us!

Glad you feel \'content and at peace\'. xxx

Sorry, ipad typing ... Loved your story about Carl! So true.
Lol about the cart racing. You are such a hoot!
I\'m having an ice ice baby moment right now too!
I think that when we cant move about like others, we come up with great solutions, like necessity breeds invention, and you are the mom of us all in this dept!

Glad God is sending you blessings, like the book, and a beautiful perspective! I think we have to be open to seeing the unseen, loving the unlovely (by society) and you do that so well. God bless U Ruthie!

Yayyyyyyyyyyyy for being pretty busy, inspite your non-compliant bod!

I loved your cart racing story, and can totally picture you doing this is my widdle head!! LOL....you do know how to make fun out of things. You have underlined, NO (CFIDS brain), you have typed in bold print some very important points to ponder.

I shall ponder them!!

Loved reading your journal, as always. I know you appreciate Bruce and all he does for you!! You iz a good, appreciative, talented lady!

I MUST get into the habit of using the daggone carts in the stores. I collapse when I get home from food shopping. It\'s from all the walking, I know it. I hear ya. I\'m a stubborn Irish lass. I have to knock off the crappola and take advantage of the things that are right in front of me. DUH! Ya know!!

Have a blessed day, Sparrow....going backwards if necessary!! LOL....
