Sail Potomac 250
I went to Old Town Alexandria recently to see the Tall Ships that were docked there for the Sail 250 celebration. A friend went to Norfolk, which was where the homeport was. There were about 60 ships there. It was one of the few places that could hold that many ships. I saw 4 ships, we got onto 2 because it was very hot that day and we didn't have the energy to wait on line again. The 1st ship we were on was the Kalmar Nyckel, it was a Dutch ship from the 17th century. There is a picture of a double sail sailboat, if you look behind it you can just make out the Capitol building in DC. When I first arrived in Old Town the group met at the Visitor's Center. President Washington was there. I took a pic with him.

What an amazing experience that must be. I have only seen a tall ship once in my life and that was at a local port.
Very nice that you went & saw these ships & got a picture with someone posing to be George Washington. Cool the some of the ships were from the 1700's. It's pretty there.
