sad day, but not too bad
Today was not the best but not that good. I almost binged but stopped in mid binge. After dinner I ate a whole small container of hummus with crackers. Then I had 2 skinny cow ice cream bars. I did stop and think about why I was eating. (stress and frustration from not knowing how to handle my son and not being able to connect with him. I am at a loss as to how to handle him). I did do 50 steps on the treadmill. that's about all my legs would allow, but at least I did it. I am going to try to do at least 50 more before bedtime so I won't feel quite so bad about overeating. I am just trying to recognize what I did wrong and learn from the situation. On the bright side. I have snacks on hand. I could have easily eaten alot more. All in all I made progress but I'm scared to start backsliding into my old habits. I want to be free from this addiction. This is even more important since my son is an addict and I can't ask him to give up drugs (even though I AM asking him to do that) if I am unwilling to break my addiction. I love that kid and I can't stand to see him go down this wrong path. Part of me is just fed up and part of me just aches for him. I am so sad that I don't know how to hlep heim. He[s ben to rehabv, incarceration, and foster homes. Nothing workds. I worry about him turning eighteen and end up going to big boy prison. I'm crying now, so I'm going to stop here. Thank you to all who listen to my ranting.

Sorry you had a bad day.
A good thing was realizing you were eating from stress. I had a day like that 2 days ago when I wanted to eat my way down a grocery store aisle.
I also wanted to overeat today. Many times in the past (like 2 weeks ago when I ate almost a whole big thing of spinach dip and a LOT of crackers) I have just sat and eaten in a semicomatose state.
The trouble is....we don\'t really feel better afterward, do we?
I wanted to overeat tonight, but just for tonight, I made a salad with lettuce, feta cheese and just balsamic vinager. I crunched and crunched and crunched....and it was OK. It satisfied that urge.
I don\'t feel now this minute like I have to overeat. I\'m OK for now.
I feel your pain. I have done the same thing....but we don\'t have to keep on doing it.
It\'s too much for me to think of never overeating again...but just for today, I am choosing to NOT overeat.
The great thing about all this is....tomorrow we get a fresh start!
Forgive yourself the semi-half-binge....:-)
Don\'t get caught in a slide into more of the same.
We get to start over tomorrow.
You really did do well to identify what was happening; being conscious of it is a huge step, vital. I really need to work on this. I\'ll keep you in my thoughts as you work through your situation with your son.
