Rough night, how much is too much?

Got home yesterday and couldn't find our little cairn terrier, we have 2 and the little one is my daughters. I drove all over and then it dawned on me. I went back to the house and looked through the bushes in the back yard. She had crawled up in them and went to sleep and died. She was only 11 but she was always kind of sickly as she was the runt. We got her when my daughter was 6 as a new puppy. So my daughter had to experience this again after losing her grandma is July, her grandma paid for both our cairns she was a huge dog lover. I've made some terrible decisions lately on handling things ive found out about my ex and her fling. Screwing up my sobriety, taking prescription meds (anti anxiety) with alcohol just to sleep. Last night after finding Jazzy i did the same.
Today I'm going to try and refocus here. My daughter is beyond upset over her dog. I have got to get my shit together. I blocked my ex from my phone. Talking to her is nothing but pain for me. She wanted to talk after she found out about Jazzy but I said no. She can't comfort me. She only brings pain now. I HAVE to remember that.
Thanks for listening to another chapter of this sad year: 2015 can't arrive soon enough.

Thanks agent and panther. My brother has been a big help and a member of this board has gone over the top being my therapist the last several weeks. I couldn\'t pay a therapist and get better coaching.
Been unbelievably hard. But man if I gotta hot bottom to finally rise hopefully this was it :)
Thanks all

Hey Coop

So sorry to hear of your little pet. I am a huge animal lover and know how you feel - I get very attached to them. Cannot have a pet at the moment because I travel so much but would dearly love one. I think it would mean a lot tonyour daughter to just spend time with her and give the dog a respectful ceremony, it would provide some closure hopefully. I remember years ago U had a beautiful little dog, three legged mutt I picked up from the pound that nobody wanted. Had a real connection with him, and I had a very stupid flatmate at the time who was dumb enough to leave snail bait where my dog could get at it. I lost him and was so upset, still miss him now. He would talk to me in his own funny little way, as they do. Wishing you well buddy. Grant

Thanks Grant
Good idea in the ceremony or some remembrance. I am having the private cremation so she can have the little urn, my daughter has had it rough this year for a 17 year old :(
Thanks again for commenting and your kind worlds. Your little dog sounded like he really gave you joy..sometimes pets are better than our human friends that\'s for sure

Something to remember her by for yourself and your daughter Coop. Hope I captured this right in my mind...

Jazzy

I remember her look from beneath quizzical shaggy brows
Soft little black nose, she loved to snuggle in my side
I will remember the good times we had since a child
I am sad, now she\'s gone, and it just makes me cry
My dear little pet Cairn has moved on from this world
Life\'s so hard in the moment, need to be a strong dad for my girl
Always curious and cheeky, and oh so loyal
I\'ll miss her bark, her expression, her energy, she was one made to spoil
But I know I\'ll get through it, and in time this will pass
I can at least take some comfort in knowing bad times never last
One day at a time is the best way to deal
And with events such as these, its important to feel
Grieving takes time, it hurts, but the light\'s up in the clouds
You are tough Coop, you can do it, your little girl would be proud

I\'m sorry for your loss. My cat died in February and it was crushing. Today is the anniversary of my other cat\'s death. Each September the Best Friends Animal Society has a blessing at heir animal sanctuary in Utah. You can send in remembrance cards and watch the ceremony online.

i am sorry to hear it. i remember the pain and sadness both times our family dogs passed on, one was a little terrier, one was a basenji. they really do become family. sorry for yours and your daughter\'s loss. it\'s never a \'good\' time, but i\'d agree that this year\'s been particularly rough. i too am looking forward to 2015 being here. thoughts and prayers with you. big big hugs.
