Rottweiler update

My home isn’t just a safe harbor. Sometimes it’s the ticket home.
I called the local radio station this morning and they ran some free ads for me, giving a description of the Rottweiler and my rough location. The radio station is a gospel station and not too many people listen to it, but I thought it was worth a shot. The Lord does work in mysterious ways, don't ya know.
The Rottweiler’s name is Brutus. His owner (I’ll call him John) lost him 8 days ago when the two were out 4 wheeling together in the creek bottoms --- a few miles from my house.  John has been searching for him every day since then. Brutus is the baby. He was rejected at birth by his mother, so John fed him with an eye dropper. He was sick and almost didn’t survive. He is now 3 years old and has a microchip in him. He’s an indoor dog, but John takes him on rides in the truck and on the atv often.
John was back out this evening searching for Brutus. He was so afraid that he had lost Brutus forever … afraid someone else had found him and decided to keep him. He was knocking on doors four miles away from here when he came across an elderly lady who had heard my announcement on the radio. The lady told him what she had heard, and John called the radio station and got my phone number. He called and I gave him directions to my house.
I thought John was going to cry when he drove up to my house and saw his dog. Brutus was one happy creature, too! John couldn’t believe that someone had the brains and the common decency to call the radio station and put out an ad. He offered to pay me, but I wouldn’t take anything. He said that, well, he’d just have to return the favor by passing on a good deed. That works for me.
I did tell him that if he ever got tired of Brutus, to just bring him back to me.Amazing how you can get attached to something so quickly, isn't it???  Yeah, I feel good for doing the right thing, but I feel bad, too.
