Roller Coaster
I'm waiting for the healthcare system here in Canada to present me with a medal for bravery, pain, suffering, patience, and self-progress in the face of an extremely slow, inefficient, repetative, and dangerous process of getting half-way to answers for what happened to me last June/July with my stomach and lungs.
So far, they say I had pneumonia that scarred my right lung and caused a phrenic nerve plasy. I don't get to see the G.I. for the stomach problem until June. That is only the "hello" visit. Then some testing will be scheduled for a look-see.
So, it was advised that I get a pneumococcal vaccine to hopefully avoid another bout of pneumonia. I got this shot on the 17th (Tues.) and by Wed. night my arm was swollen, red, and felt like a mule kicked me. I didn't doddle on this, I went straight to emergency. Lucky me, I got some germ with the shot and was developing blood poisoning. Now, I have to take antibiotics for a week. My body reacts to things like antibiotics because of the fbro.
However, I have discovered over the past month that if I wear a light-weight back brace, the pain in my right diaphragm/rib area is held in enough that I can actually go for a decent walk and until the "germ" in the vaccination got me, I was doing much better at walking, eating, feeling hopeful. I am still hopeful but with a cloud of "peeved" about the vaccination complication.
On a brighter note, I have been allowed by my government to choose alternative medicine for my health conditions as they are complex and do not benefit from the synthetic drugs available. In fact, those drugs only harm and hinder my body from functioning better.
For the first time in years I have felt relief from the pain and suffering, a good night's sleep, and an elevated mood with energy to get things done without the overwhelming feeling of frustration from the pain and inability to stay sequentially focused.
I want to thank everyone for their kind words, hugs, and misses. It would be nice to stay online for awhile but I am easily fatigued and today my body says quick update and back to bed to read/sleep so that I will have the strength to go walking tomorrow again.
Hugs and misses to all, remember: no matter what feels like hell and death today, tomorrow can be the day that brings progress and the promise of better days yet. :)
