Retreat and other things

Hello everyone.  I am cooking John a good dinner tonight and thought about checking in with you.  As I am turning over my fried pork chops my mind goes back.  To a time when my mama would come home after a long hard day in a furniture factory she came home every night and cook a huge meal. I miss those days. I miss my mama. I almost picked up the phone on the way home to call her.  Since losing josh I don't cook like I did.  I miss cooking for him. I miss him asking everyday what is for supper mama. I miss those days.  Tonight I am missing a lot of things.
My daddy has to go Friday for a heart catheterization. His doctor is concerned he may have a blockage. If that is the case he will just have a stint spend the night and go home the next day.  Daddy had a five way by pass 6 years ago. His doctor is the same one my mama had.  When he was talking to us after his stress test he had that worried look on his face like he did in February when mama passed.  It might just be in my head.  Keep him in your prayers.
John and I went to beautiful Panama City for the retreat.  Going breaks my heart knowing the reason we are going. Leaving breaks my heart knowing I am leaving people truly understand.   Meeting the new moms breaks my heart also.  They are new to this awful pain that I have learned to live with for the past nine years.   They have come to the right place for the love and support they need.  Thanks to the committee for a wonderful retreat. I will posting pictures soon.
I love you all and carry you and your children in my heart everyday.

I smiled when I read your journal remembering all the times I made dinner for my kids. They all had their \"favorite\" dishes...I would have to say that Daren had his \"favorites\"...some of the tenderest memories of our children are around celebrations and food.
I am praying for your Dad and you during the next few days and I am hoping for good results. When I lost my Dad and Mom last year, it was hard...so I understand your concerns.
So glad that you and John made the retreat again this year...Awesome to see you both.

Warmest thoughts...hugs & prayers,
AnnM

Wishing your dad well. I hope all goes well.
Our son is here for a couple of days so I will be cooking for him and my beautiful DIL Tiina, I love to cook for those I love. Christmas is bittersweet as we always spent it with Lisa and her family. We had a great time cooking together.
The reunions are always bittersweet. Like you I find it heartbreaking knowing that we are all carrying the incredible sadness of loss. And knowing what the new moms are facing. However, it is worth it to spend time with those who \'get it\'.
Tight hugs, M

Prayers for your dad, hope all goes ok tomorrow. Positive thoughts, tight hugs & prayers for you too Rhonda as it\'s not easy watching a parent age.

You made me hungry thinking about you cooking that nice good dinner for you & John. :) Hope the memories of all those family dinners bring you & John smiles.

I was thrilled to see & hug you at the retreat. You & John are so loved by all of us, hope you know that! I won\'t forget our boat ride to Shell Island & feeding the sea gulls Cheetos. lol

Love you my sweet sister of the heart!

Praying for your dad and believing that he will be ok. It is not easy watching a parent age and I found that it brings alot of good & bad emotions.
Dinner sounds good!! My mom was a great cook and she, too, would work all day, then come home & cook - Boy I sure miss that - just the smells that would fill our home.
I hope to get to a retreat - You all are my lifeline......(((((hugs))))) Vicki

Hoping all goes well for your dad tomorrow and after having both my parents shed their earth suits, my mom six years ago at the end of this month and my dad just six months ago brings me into these same kinds of reflections that you speak of.

I certainly did miss my retreat hugs this year and John and YOU are simply one of the sweetest couples I know. I would have loved to have known Josh because I know the apple doesn\'t fall from the tree. :) Those retreats are amazing because you are surrounded by those who \"get it\" and for just a few days ALL masks slip off and the love is so deeply felt.

Peace to your loving heart dearest Rhonda and prayers BEing offered for your dad. Please let us know how it goes when you are able.

Love YOU,
XO Joanie
