Restless

Last night was tough.  I was up 3 times during the night and it took me a while to get back to sleep.  I just sit up and worry. I try to be a quiet as I can when I get up so I do not disturb George.  He needs his rest, he is such a good man. I can not quiet my mind.  I keep thinking and thinking about this oxygen, medication, the doctors and various and sundry things.   My son came over last night and my little grandson that is 19 months was dancing around doing the Irish jig.  I was sitting there clapping while he danced.  When he was finished he looked to the floor and picked up my air hose and handed it to me.  That made me feel down too.   I have to figure a way to get my mind on other thoughts.  I probably need a shrink or something.

Having someone to talk to would be good. You need a lot of support at this time. Do you have a Pastor that you might talk to? I know my church family has been a lot of help to me. If there is anyway I can help besides prayer let me know. Keep a positive thought. Hugs and God Bless, Arlynda

I am hoping once your anti depressant kicks in you will sleep better. If it doesn\'t work well for you ask to try something different. Anxiety is a problem with many of us, once it starts it can be hard to get a grip on it and breathing is even worse.
Someone to talk to is always a great idea. I have lots of faith that you will get thru this difficult time and find some peace of mind.
Hugs,
Leenie

Linda- My grandson ( now 17 months) has given me some of the biggest laughs over the stupidity of this disease.
When he was about 8 months old, whenever he wanted me or if anyone asked wheres Grandma he\'d go \" cough, cough, cough\".
Now when we play, he has learned to use pursed lip breathing and when I get out of breath, he also sits next to me and goes \" puff, puff , puff\"
And heaven knows, if I ignore him, my O2 hose somehow gets wrapped up in one of his toys.. the little stink!
Your still reeling from the news- it seems its always presented in a way that makes it sound like a pending death sentence, but just look at all the folks here who have been living with it for years. They give me encouragement. I hope you begin to feel the same.
There is NO EXPIRATION DATE stamped on us . Don\'t let the diagnosis rob you of enjoying life and your beautiful grandbaby.

You are correct Idozy1. Everything I hear here makes perfect sense. If I just felt better and could get of the o2 I think I could cope a little better. I understand it takes time. But it is so hard to wait. I will try some breathing exercises and some meditation.

Linda...

Here in our community, we have a Better Breathers Club, sponsored by the American Lung Association. We have meetings comprised of people with COPD and they\'re wonderful to talk to, share and getting all those feelings out you are having in a supportive environment can really be helpful.

I have added a link to Better Breathers in Florida. If you don\'t find one near you, you might want to call the Pulmonary Department at your local hospital. This was how I found mine, as they were not listed on the national website.

Hope this helps. And I hope you have a restful night, and soon it\'s not so overwhelming.
