Resigning My Job

Well, I have made a decision I hope I don't regret. I have been so miserable at work the last few months that I turned in my resignation and am working out a two week notice. I hope and pray I have done the right thing.

My job is very draining and depressing, and every single morning, I do not want to go. I love my co-workers, but it just isn't enough to keep me going. I just hope I don't become "homebound" or more depressed. I am afraid of being bored and alone with my thoughts. My husband is home too, but he isn't the easiest person to talk over problems with. I don't need to work financially, but there may likely be a while I will be without insurance. I have to start looking up proivate plans and see if that might be an option.

I am scared...but then I was terrified to start work as well. I suppose any sort of change is just really scary for me.

Don\'t know if it was the right decision or not, but if you were miserable I tend to think it was. Sending hope and prayers for a brighter future.

I too hope this decision brings you peace. I certainly understand and support you. Losing a child makes us go in circles trying to find peace period. Again, it does get better. I hope and pray we will see that happen for you as soon as it is possible, although it does take a long time. Wishing you the best as you try to recoup from the job.

I do hope something comes your way that will be what you want. Being happy is a start, not wanting to go to work everyday you needed to get out.
Do not give up

DEAR GINA: YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT. GETTING OUT OF THE HOUSE EVERY DAY TO KEEP BUSY IS GREAT BUT IF THE JOB IS N OT A HAPPY PLACE TO GO DON,T GO. YOU HAVE ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH RIGHT NOW. REST SNUGGLE WITH YOUR FUR KID. YOU KNOW YOU WRITE BEAUTIFUL HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF GOING BACK TO SCHOOL I WOULD LOVE TO GO TO COLLEGE BUT TO OLD NOW. BUT YOU ARE YOUNG. MY HUSBAND IS NO ONE I CAN TALK TO. WE ALWAYS END UP TALKING ABOUT NASCAR OR FIGHTING. \"LIKE I SAID DO YOUR THING AND DON,T REGRET A THING\" BLESS YOUR ANGEL . LOVE YOU MARY ANN

I am thinking you made the right decision. I wonder if there is something you could do that is more uplifting. Even a volunteer job - a reason to get up and dressed. I like the volunteer stuff I do in the community. I know I do not do well without a purpose.
Wishing you luck.
Love and tight hugs,
Marlene

Sounds like a wise decision to me. And I agree, perhaps finding something to get involved with on a voluntary basis would be a good fit....maybe a local animal shelter?? Or if there is a city garden and you have a green thumb, maybe contribute your expertise there?? It may be fun to try something new that you\'ve always wanted to do....like a cooking class or art class or something like that?? Just some ideas... Whatever speaks to your spirit is what you should try! But the one thing I know that I know, we MUST always push ourselves to get out of bed, get dressed, and face the world in some aspect every day. Well, at least I always knew that\'s what I had to do. Sitting on the couch, or laying in the bed all day everyday was just not an option I was willing to give myself. Some days, sure; but everyday, NO! I pushed and pushed and pushed until I no longer had to push myself.....I truly began enjoying LIFE again. Hang in there beautiful!

I think you need to do whatever your heart tells you. We all seem to step out in trepidation these days. Our floor has given way, so we question everything. I have just begun to put my foot out in faith that everything will work out as it should. It is not an easy task and you are braver than you know just by doing that first step.
You will not lack for things to do. I am busier not working...love, Lauri

You worked and it served you for a time and now it does not. To go to a job that you feel miserable in is just not something that you need to do and don\'t second guess your decision. You made it and it is best for you for now...

I was thinking too with your love of animals and knowing that the Humane Society and places such as this sorely need help walking dogs etc.

It is a purposeful Universe and not a hostile one and you are making this step as you need to. You are needed and in a ways that won\'t be so draining for your BEing and it will come. Just remaining open to the possibilities is a step and knowing too that healing time at home may be a part of it as well.

I\'m with Lauri and my days fly! Not sure how I ever worked and can be as busy or not as I desire. I worked hard to get to this place of knowing that I am not my job or even the roles that I have in my life, yet I\'m just Joanie, and discovering who Gina truly IS may become your soul curriculum for now.

Loving care and just keep taking those steps as you have been and are as this path is as unique as we are.

XO Joanie

It sounds like it is the perfect decision for you. If staying at home seems a likelihood...perhaps volunteering? Sometimes when we change our focus it opens up a rainbow of happiness. Love and hugs...Karen

If you were that miserable at work, not being there sounds like a good more to me. We have so many things that we can\'t change, if there is something you can do to make life better..DO IT.
When I stopped working 2 years ago (not my choice) I found several things to do that make me happy... quilting and making quilts for sick children through Quilts for Kids... working with a dog rescue and making a difference in the live of abandoned dogs.. and I just found a Part time job I am really enjoying.

I am sure you did the right thing! If you do not financially need the paycheck than put yourself in the enviable position of taking a job that you will love! Ask yourself what do you love to do and then find a way to get paid to do it! If you love to garden, start looking at nurseries. If you love organizing, ask yourself how you could get paid to do it!
Yes, you run the risk of becoming housebound, but being aware of the downside of that, even if you go there for a little while, you will get to the point of saying \"enough of that crap!\"
So proud of you!

Congrats on your retirement and now you can do whatever you want. The library is a great place for ideas, programs and even part time work. Hope you enjoy something too, just for you. Peace, Kathy
