Reflecting over time

I have just gone through and read some of my past journals; I realized that I don't write here as often as I used to when I belonged years back. But looking through the ones I did write makes me realize how far I have come. I really thought my life was coming to a horrible spot for me and it hasn't. While it was extremely tough going through the divorce, moving out, finding a job etc, I realize that what was really happening was me standing in my own way.

Over the past few months I have made many trips to Oklahoma and back to see my daughter (college). This past weekend, in the long silence, I really thought about my future and what I want it to look like and of course, I want it to look nothing like my past. I have made a lot of progress but I realize that I am still going through stages of what I thought I wanted. I have done the rebuilding, the job, I have even done the partying....now it is time to seriously concentrate on me. ALL of me. I have come up with a plan to act on over the next few months to a year: spiritually, physically, financially, and most of all, my attitude. I have taken baby steps on all of these over the past two years but not all of them at the same time. Now is the time to do that.  I feel like I have not become the person I am truly meant to be, but it will change starting now

Wish me luck!

Love your journal. You are sensational. How boring it would be if we achieved anything in a matter of moments or short spans of time. Some discovery/change heading toward a goal can be exciting or scary. But, looking back we see it wasn\'t bad at all. I went through a divorce after having a baby - I can tell you the change from devoted married woman to career woman raising two boys was amazing. I look back and remember all the marvelous friends I met in a ski club, at Temple U., night classes, at my new job and through my children\'s school.

You are excelling at something that takes a lot of time - you will always be learning and growing until you pass away! So, enjoy all you have achieved and look forward to the marvelous surprises coming your way.

Thanks Coreen. It is a long journey, even if I had not gone through the challenges I did, there would have been other challenges. I was so happy to go back to work after so many years off raising my children (which were amazing years I might add).

I have learned who my friends are and who were people just hanging on for whatever reason. Some of the ones that went away stung a bit, but really, I have connected with the ones that stayed with me even stronger now.
