Re-triggers...damn the evening news
Dear DS diary,
When I'm trying to least build a sense of safety somewhere, even if it's just through an occasional social game on Facebook, the last thing I need to hear is something like what aired on the CBS Evening News tonight, which is simulcast via radio feed on WBZ in Boston. My parents like to listen to it and normally I do too.
But not tonight.
Not when I heard about a gruesome story in which a baseball player of Australian extraction was killed in Oklahoma this past weekend by a trio of teens who shot in in the back. Alleged motive? The teens were bored out of their minds, so they decided to kill somebody "just for the fun of it".
Logically, I know the reality is that killings of this particular variety especially are isolated at best. But emotionally, it's just something I can't afford to hear because it registers instantly, and I mean instantly...I have literally no chance to antidote it with something out of the Huffington Post Good News or some other feel-good story. It just makes me want to avoid...and frankly stories like this are keeping me up some nights and tonight is probably going to be no exception.
(sigh) Just when I was coming to terms with how to proceed regarding my YouTube videos, too (tonight I recorded one, but didn't post it because it will take time to upload, it's a big file even though it's only eight minutes roughly...which is actually good because previously I'd push to do the upload on the night of the record. But now I recognize the video isn't going anywhere, I can always re-record at some point if I need to, and I never planned on videos going up every night so delays are actually okay). Exactly what I didn't need -- a re-trigger to wipe out something that might be positive. :(

http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/ I heard of this the other day. Its supposed to be all good news that the papers and tv news doesn\'t necessarily report as it doesn\'t fall under their criteria. Maybe check it out. hugs my friend
