Quit Smoking Oct 09

Actually yesterday the 6th was my 5 month quit date after smoking heavily for 40 years.    Never in a million year did I ever think that I would never smoke and quit and I had 3 weeks to do it in and cold turkey !!!!!!!!!! I did not like mu surgeon that day that's for sure lol
Well when I was diagnosed with EC and emphaseema (sp) and the surgeon told me that I would be tested on the day of surgery (pee in a cup) and if he found nicotine in it I would be sent home and there would be no surgery. So that night was the last for me I did lapse once over xmas and had a ciggie and it nearly killed me so that did it me for teehee..........
I still can;t believe that i had the courage and will power and also the threat of the surgeon to actually stop and I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!but I am not one of these reformed smokers who really make me mad spoutting on & on about how bad it is etc........... I still love the smell of smoke..........not that much that I would run after someone just to get a wiff of the smoke lol.
I'm just stoked that I got this far cold turkey n all and at this stage never want to go back to it again.  I had little flashes/thoughts oohh a ciggie would be nice and then the thought goes away.
So anybody that needs/wants/has to quit smoking it can be done especially when your health is on the line...... but just do if for yourself.   My war cry was "but I enjoy smoking it relaxes me" yeah well that was just an excuse.......... I just didn't have the will power and inclination to try and stop.......... but anyways that's all behind me and one less thing I have to worry about teehh.
Sorry If I rabbitted on but am feeling happy and stoked about my achievements..
The week after next start all my follow up dr appmts, CT scans, PET scans, seeing Oncologist, GI doct, my own doct, surgeon, mamagram and bone density test thrown in there as well............. so lucky I have a good boss and great people I work with.
Anyways enough ramblings needless to say I'm one happy camper tonight,.......
Cheers Annie
