PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION!

Today was a very positive day - - - no urges, no slips; now after deviating from my purpose several times in the last few months, I truly know the meaning of 'ONE DAY AT A TIME'.  When I first started coming to this site and remained GF, there were days when it really wasn't too hard; the weeks went by and I was super proud of myself.  I know I can have that feeling once again . . .it is just a matter of not giving in to temptations.  They CAN and WILL be there - - it's all in the way each of us handles those temptations!  Thank you to everyone for the support on this site!!!!! I can't really put it into words; some of you are excellent writers - you express yourself so well; I think I'm better on-on-one.  I love reading some of the posts (Dianne, Auzgirl, and many others) very well written, from the heart, and inspirational. Thank you, thank you, thank you. For TODAY I remain GF!!Hugs,Smokeygirl

So glad to see you with a great big smile! I think you said something really important when you said the temptations can and will be there. I am learning that I have days when the thoughts enter my head....and that if I let them pass...you know, I generally just forget about them until the next time!!! I guess being forgetful is good for something sometimes LOL...

In the first couple of months, sometimes the only thing that got me through was telling myself I could still gamble sometime in the future if I really wanted to....but just for THAT day, I would not gamble.

I still have thoughts and urges even now...but not everyday, and not nearly as strong as they once were...the monster is getting weaker!

As for now....just for today, like you, my friend, I will not gamble.
Hugs and Love, Dianne

Thank you Dianne and here\'s to another Gamble Free day. I agree - with the thought in mind that you CAN gamble sometime off in the future it sort of takes the pressure off like you have a choice - - -as long as you don\'t gamble THAT day. Yes - I feel the same way.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Take care,
Smokeygirl

I love this entry - I have written it myself many times over. Yes it took me a few slips to really get the One day at a time - at first a day seemed enormous but now through the Grace of God the days add to weeks and the weeks to months - months to years and then a lifetime - doesn\'t that sound fantastic???
Enjoy your lovely peaceful GF life! - Hugs Suzi
