Progress at least I think

I think there is some progress. Some of my MS symptoms are gone!!!! Like holy S***. For the last 8 yrs I have only gotten worse. When I bend down my head put my chin to chest I no longer get that weird feeling or at the very most my hands get a bit numbish feeling but that is it. My bowels have woken up for the first time in eight yrs I am going like a normal person also my bladder leaked, so may be it is starting to wake up as well.
My thinking is also getting better. Today I played cards for just over an hr. Got too hot and instead of going back to my room I asked for a cup of ice and got through it. I also dealt the cards the whole 2 games without help. My arms are getting stronger. I know every day is not going to be so good in the physical symptoms but today was a good day. Once again I got new exercises. I do have to listen to my body and when I have bad days or days that I am tired not to over do it.
That is another thing that I am able to do now. When I am tired I rest I do not have to get up to prove something. It is better for me to rest when I have a tired day, then I have a good day the next day.
Another thing that is gotten better is I can type like I used to. For awhile back in Sept I was typing using a stick one letter at a time. Now I am typing 50 to 80 words a min. It would most likely be faster if I did not make so many mistakes. Hitting the wrong keys but hey it is hard to type with numb fingers and my lap top key board is slightly different than my keyboard at home.
I have gone since June without a new attack of the MS. For me that is great. My MS Doc said my MS was very agressive so it is great that the chemo is slowing it down.
I will start to get MRI's done in 6 to 9 months to see if the lesions are shrinking. I think they have to be as my symptoms are getting soooo much better.
This is so exciting I may not sleep tonight. I do not know when the bussing in my neck/head when my head is down went away like really how many times do we do that in a day. I was starting to go back down hill when I went for chemo I did not know if I could get through two weeks so I could have steriods, I thought I might be paralised again, but I am slowly getting better
This makes the bad days bearable, I still have numb area's but I have already thought I could deal with that if I had to. It makes learning to walk a bit harder. I think I am going to ask to go into the pool to learn how to walk. They get you in water up to your chest and there are bars in the pool. You start doing exercises, walking you get stronger and stronger and when you are strong enough you start to go in shallower water just a few inches at a time. Then you go into water that is only up to your waist and walk. You build the right muscles and if you fall it is no biggy you are in water you do not hurt yourself. I was thinking not to do this in the pool here as it is a warm water pool. But in our town there is a cool water pool that is accessable .
I know I am going to walk again it is just a matter of time.
Sad news is my Hubby is feeling down. He is not well with his heart. He is putting of fluid again and again. He is not taking this being sick very well. He does not talk about it much as he does not want to get me down. I sometimes wish he would talk to me, He does not need to keep things in. I wish he would let me help him the way he has helped me. The only thing I can do is be there for him and tell him that I love him. He needs hugs so that is what I am going to do. He is also worried about his Sister. She has heart problems that are getting worse out of 7 kids there are just 3 of them left. I think he misses his Brothers and Sister. I think he is feeling his age. Although he is still in great shape. I told him that there are children out there with heart problems and it is not his age. But he is not ready to see it. I think I might check out the heart section here on DS.

So happy for all your progress. I know what you mean about your hubby. Mine doesn\'t talk about his health issues either. I guess he doesn\'t want to worry me but that worries me more. Love and support is all we can do sometimes. Gentle hugs, Linda

This is wonderful news! you so deserve it and i love your positive attitude. hope your husband gets over the hump soon, losing so much of his family is quite tragic, plus x-mas can be an emotional time of year. I like your idea of putting him onto a ds support group. Take care mate and keep up the good work!
