Progress??? And Other Stuff
Sigh, I just don't know with him anymore.
He thinks the last few days(minus the day after he came home) have been swell. But the thing is, the day after he got back from his trip and I asked him to do something for me, he snapped out. So I haven't asked him to lift a finger since then. I've done all the cooking, the cleaning, the pet care, the child care. He's worked, and sat on his ass. Of course for HIM it's swell!! And then today he mentions that the house is fairly messy, maybe I should clean a bit more. UGH!
On the other hand, I did just have three days off, and did nothing for the last two. It get's exhausting. Cleaning the house, putting so much work into it, and having him not care if he messes it up within minutes.
The one day I hand washed my floors, I vaccuumed, I pulled apart and vaccuumed the couches. I dusted the crap out of everything, I scrubbed the counter tops, I wiped the walls and I dusted the light fixtures. There wasn't a dish in the sink and the trash had been emptied. He comes home, tracks through the living room, dining room and kitchen in his work clothes, leaving a trail of sawdust, has a drink, leaves his cup on the counter, pulls out the cookies, grabs a few, leaves the bag on the counter, goes into the living room, takes off his clothes and leaves them lay, sits in front of the TV, letting his cookies crumble onto my carpet. Then he gets up and sits on the couch, letting the last of the sawdust shake off of him. He knocks the blankets we keep on the arm of the couch onto the floor. Then he gets up to go get into the shower, looks around and says 'what did you do all day? this place is a mess.' ARGH!
He can't even see that he made the mess! Tonight he clipped his fingernails and left the clippings all over the rug.....and did I mention our central vac is on the fritz so I have been sweeping the rug for the past few days, and he knows this!?!?
I asked him to clean up his mess before he went to bed, then I went to have a bubble bath. I get out and his empty pop bottle is on the counter. But his clothes, the clippers, the file, the nail clippings, the remote and some garbage are still laying all over the living room floor. Nice clean up job.
And the other night he told me something that really bothers me. My best friend and her hubby are having an issue right now. He's put on 150lbs since they got married, and she is starting to find him extremley unattractive. So the other day, Joey asked me if it was possible for me to lose some weight so that I don't become so big he's grossed out. I'm 180lbs, granted I should be 140, but I'm not. He's the same weight, but I have a HUGE chest, and he has a medium gut. Plus, I'm an inch taller then he is. I don't tell him he's fat. He says he was not trying to hurt my feelings, but it did! And I find I'm eating more then I was before because I feel disgusting about myself.
But on the brighter side, his work has picked up, so we aren't totally broke in the bank. And I spent $100 on groceries without him there and he didn't get mad at me. He thinks I can't control what I spend, though I made it long enough without him, and when we first got together, I was the only money maker, and he gets mad if I spend more then $2 without his say. It's the never ending battle with him, he thinks since he's the main money maker it's 'his' money, and we have had tons of talks, and he agrees he needs to start thinking of it as 'our' money, but I find he just isn't.
I really do need to clean though, the house is starting to gross me out. But I work tomorrow and Saturday, and even though he has Saturday off from both jobs, I doubt he will clean anything. Most likely he will go to his parents house, his mom will watch Marlow, and he will go hang out in the garage with his dad.

I am just like you in the sense that I keep a tight house. I can\'t stand the mess and instead of waiting for him to clean I do it all myself.
However, I think you need to try to have a serious talk with him about not supporting you or appreciating you. That would get so old! My husband comes home and tries to find something to compliment me on as far as the cooking and cleaning goes. That\'s my job since I don\'t work (well, part time for a little while longer) and I need encouragement just as much as he does.
I hope that he starts appreciating you soon. You have the hardest job of all! It doesn\'t matter if you just had a break... it was a well deserved one. He has no idea what it\'s like to take care of a child and have the house clean and balance cooking as well.
Good luck with your talk! I hope you can \"fix\" him. :)
How about going away for a week or weekend so he learns what it\'s like to care for a baby 24/7 and run the house.
