procedure went well......

today was lower lumbar epidural injection day.  the focus was on the left side......L something and L something else.  should know this, it's lost info currently.

the procedure was fast, the doctor and staff GREAT!  everyone loves this doc.   she is warm, respectful.....to patients, employees......a wonderful win win.

the first shot felt like i got hit with an electrical thunderbolt all the way down my left leg........this is not pleasant, i hollered like a tom boy on fire!  the second injection was either less thunderous or maybe the first one prepared me for the second shot. not sure.......

but it's done.  good.  also got the (dental) bridge TEMPORATILY INSTALLED ON MONDAY.  there were bone fragments coming out, so they had to be removed......go back on Tuesday to see if they can do the permanent install.  every day shows improvement on the CHEWING FRONT!  (you can giggle if you like but I went to Taco Bell and ordered TWO CRUNCHY TACOS ASAP!)  it's fun to be able to eat crunchy foodage again!

How ARE YOU????

I'm tuckered, but glad to be able to string some words together ......small internal chuckle......we southerners are in store for WINTERSTORM HELENA......the temps dropped 20 degrees overnight and will continue dropping yet another 20 degrees overnight.  tomorrow we will be at 18 degrees.....which is RIGHT COLD for us southern wimps.  sara got me some sandwich fixin's before bringing me back home.......and we had a nice talk today.  these are cherished as they are rare......they always infuse me with HOPE & JOY!

She said the grocery store was NUTSY Cuckoo.......the check out lines were rough.  This was early afternoon on a Friday but seemed like a mega sale event from what i saw in the parking lot.  ......we anticipate rain which will turn to that dangerous stuff we have a very healthy respect for......black ice.  it is nothing to sneeze at.......we hope that we won't see too much of the white stuff......but for someone like me it's magical.  someone like me equating to a lucky one who doesn't have to get out for a few days for any reason.

pray the power stays on.....i have a good healthy stack of wood should it be necessary.  made some goodies to eat including milk chocolate brownies......rice w/beans, cheesy broccoli, sweet corn, and cornbread......dinner was GREAT!

ok whew.......sara helped me by unpacking the big present from the kids.  i told myself no opening of that big box until Christmas Decor was repacked & stored........they got me a lovely set of cookware.

the first nice set in my whole long legged life.  wow.  washed each piece in warm sudsy water.....let it air dry.  packed up my existing odd bits & pieces......& still held onto my favorites.  it's hard to let go of favorite things......always has been - always will be i suppose.  a gift card allowed me to get two new oven mitts...(soft thick aqua mitts)....first new mitts in over a decade.......the pattern on the fabric was all but faded away --- there were big patches of missing fabric, it was time.  so nice to have them to use on the new cookware for the new year.  ----a joint gift from Sara, Derian and Sam......very blessed.

good night........symptoms are ramping up rapidly, better get some warm layers on and snuggle into some cozy comfort.  sparrow cottage is not made for this kind of cold, it's really built for temps no lower than the 40's.....but we can do this.  please stay warm, duck when those winter viruses come flying at you....we can't avoid them all, but we can hope they won't get us.

.......so excited, sam's last present finally arrived, I didn't notice it was coming from the United Kingdom......a set of darts.  sara & I had to go to the village post office......didn't think they would come until February.......so another yay.  shooting darts is a hobby that has become more prevalent for Sam....I didn't know that DARTS are so involved, that there are so many details to one little dart........amazing.  live and learn.....something new....everyday!

hugs, keep safe & warm, sparrow

I'm glad you got that pesky tooth fixed. You crunch that taco, girl! Love.

Glad to hear that both of your procedures went well. Also pray that your power stays on.

That is my prayer as well as we may get up to 6 inches of snow here from the same storm & then we will probably not get above freezing before sometime Monday. In fact our lows Sunday morning & Monday morning will be in the teens, if not lower. This old southern boy is sure not use to weather like this. At least I have no appts before next Tuesday afternoon.

Stay warm. That is my goal too.

We got three inches last night and six more expected Sat. Into Sunday. Hope you were spared and didn't lose Power!

Those shots are a bugger. Praying that you get relief! " Dear Lord, please ease Ruthie s pain."

Love you girl!

Yay! It's overdue for you to have some good things happen! I know the epidurals are painful, but they are worth it!
New cookware - always good! I have to sent you a good soup recipe I found - potatoes, cheddar, and ham! Mm, mm!
We got a little snow last night, may an inch - just enough to make the roads slick! It's blue cold in Kaintuck territory, spozed to get down to 9 to tonight! Gotta leave the water faucets dripping!
Sleep well, and dream about crunchy foods!

We had snow thoughout December, but in January it just has been bitter cold. I heard you guys were going to get hit with the storm. Praying you are safe and warm. Are you leaving a faucet trickling water so pipes don't freeze. We have to do that here every winter. Only at night when the water is rarely used. I am so excited about your fancy gift! It's sounds like a special thing that you will get lots of use out of. I"ve had a temporary crown for weeks and weeks(getting in fixed to the permanent crown very soon). NO crunchy or sticky food for me either. I am making up a list of stuff I"m going to eat as soon as it's fixed for good! I hope your painful shot leads to a pain free lower back! xoxo, ELLE

Noooooo!!! I just pressed the wrong button and wiped out my whole long comment. Can I say bugger bugger ?? Said it anyway. Damn!!
OK will try again.
Hi there Ruthie. I just woke up. ... probably why I hit the wrong button. I'm lying here on my bed typing. I have the aircon on. Sooo hot here. Your journal made me feel so chilly that I was forced to pop on my deep purple sarong lol! I'm happy to hear that you are knocking a few things on the head at the start of the year. The lumbar injections sound brutal...never had one. Brave little long legged sparrow !! You didn't waste much time now with the taco munch did you. Nice to appreciate the finer things in life...teeth and tacos ha ha. I bet you really enjoyed that one. I like tacos too.
Your new cookware was a great and praftical gift for sure. The darts were a different idea. Probably a lot of fun for the family. My dad used to play darts at the local pub with his mates when I was just a whipper snapper....another life time...too long ago. They used to have competitions. What a splayed out comment..no hope of remembering the first..Grrr.
Well Ruthie I hope you don't lose your power and I hope the weather doesn't become too severe. I would freeze my pants off for sure. Everything would have to be thermal. I would be so rugged up I wouldn't beable to move. Geez I'm feeling a little shivery just imagining it, so I think I will turn the aircon off and open my windows. It has started raining now anyway, so the humidity will drop.
Well better go. Everyone keeps saying it's the year of change. Sounds fine to me. I'm not sure if there's some bonafide astrological line to it or if it's some contagious fabrication. Anyway I'll take it. Need a change for sure. Love and mucho gratitude my friend. xoxo
