A priest friend wrote this to me a month or so ago:
Maximazing yiur potential is the best way to thank God for the gifts He freel gave you in the first place
It touched me this morning and i wrote this back to him:
This comment is so helping me today Father. I can get so lost in ‘the shoulds’ of life and conversely, when I’m liberal, I can get lost in the passions. To aim for the nexus of the two sides in the form of ‘maximizing my potential’ gives me a real expectation for what I’ll experience and simultaneously a platform for living with and managing myself.

I can see how in either direction I go, either passions or focus on piety it is kind of the same vainglorious stuff.
