practice
today i've been coping with the alone time, the social distancing like we all are.
i happen to be alone with my cat, who I am still getting to know..but he's a sweetheart
and indeed he is like my child. after he went under the bed, as he does when he gets unsettled,
i took the opportunity to sit and do stuff on my own that i wanted to do. I can so see the challenges
of parenting..how a 'mom' might say .."I didn't really have time to catch my breath today."
I am glad to have the parenting job, and in fact it's like I am a kind of activities director for him - as I am
getting to know his needs and habits, likes and dislikes. He's a really affectionate cat - who probably
had a very different life before this.. He's so timid at times that I sadly suspect he might have beenĀ
treated very badly.
So, he's been under the bed for a while..I've tried to encourage him out a couple, few, times, but now
I think maybe just that's what he wants...and that's fine.. it also gives me time to sit and watch a show.
Which I am doing. Along the way today my mind did what it usually does and given the moment to sit
down, it also started to be my main perspective...I felt distressed by it - as often happens - and I thought
to call my therapist and leave a message - but we are chatting tomorrow on Skype - so I suddenly figured
I'll think on "patience" - I can do that practice - as a "practice" that vantage was so great and the blossom of that idea really comforted me.
I don't know if I can express it here...so well...
--- this is tangential but another aspect of action seems to come to me that (and this is both separate and similar at the same time)
we seem to go to extremes just until it's time we figure out what the better thing is to do...
just thoughts - have a blessed, wonderful afternoon. Stay safe where you are!! We are in this together..!!!

It will take a bit of time for your cat to get used to his new home and to you. I would suggest you buy one of those cat toys where there is a frilly thing on a stick and play with her with that. Our cats love those and it is good exercise for them. They even love it so much they will bring it to us to play. Some cats like the little laser and will chase it happily trying to catch it.
Stay well and have a good week, Mark.
thanks Becky!!! I do have one of those sticks..He loves it..
