Possible Good News about Work
At work today they let me put appointments in the computer, and they didn't even have to teach me anything. I just knew how to do everything based on all the watching that I have done since I've been there. I even knew the abbreviations for the doctors, some of which I don't know if my boss knows. I just know because I see them get put in all the time. They want me to come in tomorrow for a typing test. I have to practice tonight and do a bit tomorrow before I go in just so I'm ready. I'm not horrible at typing, but right now I have so much energy and I'm hitting all the wrong keys. I hope it's not one of those tests where you can't use the backspace key... I hate those since I'm always hitting backspace to correct my errors. I hate seeing errors on the screen. I have to have everything correct. I'm a perfectionist that way. Oh well, we will see. I am practicing right now, doing my journal. Maybe I should try and slow down a bit so I don't type as bad. I can type fast but with errors, or I can type slow and there's not as many errors. I wonder what kind of test it will be. I hope there's not a lot of numbers on it... I'm kinda slow on numbers right now.
Anyway, as you can tell, I'm excited about this. I hope I can get a job there. It would go great on my resume, and like I said yesterday I'm ready for part time work. I went in today, and I think I can manage Monday through Friday half days. I can't manage a full day yet... I'm working on it. I think it would just be too much stress. Today I was a bit stressed out, putting in the appointments for the first time, but I did well. I took over for my boss while she stepped away from the desk and I did a good job. She was very impressed with me. I know they are looking for help, and I know Claudia and I are looking for part time work. I told them they should split the full time position between Claudia and I... Claudia can work the mornings and I can work the afternoons. I know they are going to be trying to teach Claudia the system as well. She's a good worker, and I would be glad to work with her.
As I was saying, stress was a bit higher today with all the new stuff I was doing. I was doing the full job, doing the visitors log, answering the phones, and scheduling appointments. It was hard, but it was good. I know what I'm doing on the computer, so that helps. I think if I was more nervous about the computer that I would have had more problems, but I was having no problems with it. I just need to learn the system better. I'm getting used to it, and it's only day 1. Still I think I can handle doing everything at the same time... I know I can get support from my boss if I need it, since she would still be working at the same desk as I am. So if I ever needed help, I could ask her. Plus, she could put in the appointments for me too when the line gets long. Another stressful thing is that we have only one doctor that speaks Spanish, and all the rest only speak English, so this doctor is in high demand. She has a waiting list of a week just to get into the computer, and then they have to wait two weeks to get the appointment. I feel bad telling the people they have to wait, but that's just the way things work. I have a big heart, I guess.
Mood was good again today... I'm feeling great, actually. I'm wondering if I'm wandering towards hypomania, since I'm having problems sleeping, but I got 12 hours of sleep last night. I think that forcing myself to get out of bed even when I don't want to is doing me some good. I think tomorrow I will do the same. Tomorrow I have to go for my walk and do the typing test, do laundry, and work on my resume. I will see how much of that I can actually get done. I have to make sure I don't overdo it on my walk, since I have to walk back to the clinic to do the typing test. I think I'm just going to do 2 miles again, since I had so much problem with that on Sunday. I will see how I'm doing once I get out there and start walking.
Food today was good... I managed to make my calories yesterday, and if I have a snack tonight again I will make mine again today. I cheated with some cake and pie, but hey, you get it how you can, right lol? I stepped on the scale today, and it said I was under 240 pounds. If I can keep that up, then that's awesome! I'm working hard on losing weight, and even though I'm on medication that makes you gain, I'm still managing to lose (when I eat my calories, that is). I think I need more than 1,300 to lose. I'm learning, day by day.

You are a real role model. The way you control and build up your life is really impressive.
Good luck with the typing test.
what an uplifting journal, you sound so excited and happy even with the stress of doing something new. my whole body is crossed for you with the typing test, they seem to be very impressed with how you have been working, kudos!! i definetly think 1/2 days are the way to go, full days are hard esp. if you havent done such a thing in a long time, better to do what you feel you can handle, then get in over your head. yah for losing weight, you are doing awesome!! i work in a retail enviroment so i know how it is when people dont like waiting, but i have learned not to stress, well not much, and do what i can do, that is all one can do, your best. it is so good to be having you have good days again, hope they keep up! hugss thanks for all your support, you are such a good friend.
