Physical Conditions

So ive noticed i havent wrote an entry about why im actually here having been on the site nearly a year now. so i thought id outline some of the conditions i have.
Number 1: Scoliosis. This is a condition that, for those who dont know, causes the spine to curve. I've had it my whole life but only found out 6 years ago. It curves at the bottom of my back (just before my pelvis) at a 25 degree angle to the left. Its very painful. I had a lot of trouble with it back when i was diagnosed and i had a lot of scans to see if there were any tumours. luckily there wasnt. i had phyiotherapy and antibiotics and i was fine. i stil suffer a lot today. it normally gets worse when im on my period because my muscles ache from the stomach cramps.
Number 2: My knee. When i was 16, i injured my knee during a PE lesson. I cant recall how but i remember my knee swelling up twice the size it should have been and i could barely walk. I went to the doctor and was sent to a sport injury clinic. I got given a brace and told to take painkillers. When this didnt work, i went back to the hospital where i was put on crutches for three days. i had an xray and i was finally given a diagnosis. i have fluid around my knee which causes the swelling and pain because its right around the joint. Its very uncomfortable to walk on and my knee joint tenses up so it cant move. im going back to the hospital this week actually because i hate this pain.
Number 3: Menorrhagia. This is one which some women might understand. I've had heavy periods since I started going through puberty. Its gotten so bad over the last few years that I havent been able to stand up when i'm on and i nearly pass out from the pain. I can't really eat much eitherm and i drink a lot because i get really dehydrated. This was a recent diagnosis. Menorrhagia is when a woman bleeds twice the amount she should during her period, causing them to be extrememly heavy and painful. Also their cycles tend to be irregular. The solution for this? The contraceptive pill. This has really helped. My periods are lighter and the pain is nowhere near as intense as it was. I also know now when my period actually will be which will make it easier for me if i ever decide to start a family one day because i'll know when i can conceive.
Why am I doing this? Not for attention. For awaeness. Not a lot of people are brave enought to talk about whats wrong with them. I decided this was my turn to. I know its a littlw long-winded but i hope at least one person can learn something from this. Thats the story of my phyiscal body, the day to day struggle I have with it.
Keep strong, E x
