GOT TO LOVE THAT GOOD OL HOME COOKIN LOL ~RS

this is also from "bitches goin at it hard as a muthfuqqa" on facebook.

that site is going to get me in trouble ... i was looking for another one, but so far i can't find it.  lol.  i go to that site and i sit there laughing for HOURS, but i have to keep remembering that not everyone finds that site funny.

posted this one for you darla, hope to see it on your tree, can be ordered at HistoryPens.com and i think its 15% off as well.  (its actually the 100th anniversary of seaside heights and the 60th anniversary of lucky leos).

and me, went to the doctor and check this out, my cholesterol went down from 237 to 211, yay.  he is putting me on a stronger statin dose to help clear out the arteries...what i'm on is merely preventative for teenagers whose bodies are prone to manufacturing cholesterol (it was the only one that didn't make me totally sick) so we will see.  i take it in the morning, so sick a little each morning, makes me sleepy a bit, but then i drink cola and it settles down and get ready for work around 12 and i'm fine by then so far.

this doctor is a sociable doctor and belongs to a wine club, its the second time he has mentioned this.  they are members for six months and going on a wine tasting cruise etc., then he tells me he used to be director of a rehab for alcohol and drugs around here and though he can't give out names, HALF of the "patients" from the rehab are "prominant citizens" of our county.  lol.  kind of already knew this, my friend's grandfather was a judge here and the entire family are closet drunks.  they don't go to meetings, so not alcoholics.  i mentioned the working drunk thing and he knew right away, he says to me, oh that, well, those people only drink after 4 or 5 (its 5:00 somewhere) and don't drink after 9 or ten p.m.  he says they also drink listerine because its 20 percent alcohol and no one can tell.  i'm like, omg!  then he kind of flings his prescription pen on the counter and says to me, you know if you were an alcoholic all your levels would just level off and you wouldn't have a stroke or heart attack, wouldn't need meds and probably live until you are 90!  (this is a DOCTOR telling me this).  so he says, if you would UP your drinks to THREE a day instead of 2, and FORGET the wine crap, that has calories and sugar and sugar is bad, try straight gin, or straight vodka or straight chevis regal or if you mix it get some lemon and lime DIET soda from publix (it has splenda not sugar or the other bad ones), that's all you need.

i'm thinking to myself, what?  so i run into e by the doctor's office her hair is blonde now, and she is recovering from surgery on her face, basil cell, don't remember if that is bad or not, two of them second one in two years.  and i go to k's for dinner and i tell him what the DOCTOR said.  and he starts laughing, only I WOULD FIND a DOCTOR like this.  so doctors orders we had THREE drinks instead, coffee with bailey's, rum with coke,  peach smoothie with gin and its dinner so FOUR, white wine.  plus dinner, stuffed flounder, chicken with some kind of sauce and a veg, then italian wedding cake that i brought over, 2 for one at publix, fabulous that is the best cake.  today, no surges in the head, and i feel fine, so i guess the problem is NOT DRINKING ENOUGH ALCOHOL.  all the people with high blood pressure and high cholesterol, just need to drink more alcohol.  omg!  lmao.

I am not really qualified to comment on the doctor\'s advice, but it sounds a bit strange. The best you could do is to get a second opinion from another doctor.

enjoy reading your posts.
Good Luck!

Um.... Was the doctor sober???? I am a non-drinker from a family of addicts. It doesn\'t exactly lower your risks for anything except possibly rational thought!

Love the toilet BBQ! It\'s something I can see myself and most of my friends doing! LOL....and Lucky Leo\'s? Yep, been there forever. How cool that they made that ornament! Thanks for thinking of me when you saw it, 38.

Actually, it\'s a proven fact that alcohol, (one oz. for women and 2 for men in a day is heart healthy! They used to say it was just wine that was good for us, but actually, it\'s the alcohol itself. I\'m sure your doctor is either goofing around or was phenomenally stoned when he gave you that advice......moderation in everything!!

Statins ARE bad for you. Most drugs have nasty side effects. The more we can do with healthy eating and lifestyle change to solve our problems, the better.

Watch that FB website....before you get yourself censored on here!! LOL...thanks again for the humor!!

Maybe your doctor is trying to be funny. It sounds like there is nothing wrong with you and you should drink up more. I don\'t know about that. I don\'t drink alcohol and I don\'t think I\'m much of a help here. Good luck

2nd opinion, 3rd opinion and so on. From my humble perspective, no doctor should advocate drinking. Certainly ONE glass of red wine daily has shown to be beneficial. I am not comfortable with the doctor\'s advice; however that is your choice whether or not to take it.

I hate to go against everyone here, but I think your doc is right. My mom drinks like a fish. A Bloody Mary or two for lunch, about 6 beers between 4pm and dinner, and then 2 or 3 whiskey and cokes after dinner before bed. I keep expecting her liver function tests to come back with a problem, but they don\'t. Anyway, when we went to the cardiologist for her pre-op clearance, she told him that her regular doctor told her that her drinking is probably why her cholesterol is so low! I was shocked! And then the cardiologist agreed! I almost fell out of my chair! Now, would drinking so much cause problems with your liver? Probably. Why my mother\'s liver isn\'t pickled is beyond me. But, would cholesterol-lowering medication cause LESS problems with your liver? Good question. I say, try it, and see how it works for you. Now, if behavioral problems develop, then that\'s a different story. And for anyone who reads this comment and thinks I\'m nuts, please remember, EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. If I drank like my mother does, I wouldn\'t be able to function. If she took the amount of supplements I take, she\'d be sick to her stomach all the time. If my diabetic dad ate and drank soda and juice like I do, he\'d die. Everyone is different, and what is unfathomable for one person is the best medicine for someone else. So, my friend, I say give it a shot and see how you feel and how your test results look in a couple of months. If your liver function tests come back poor, or you don\'t feel good, then stop and try something else. But having a cocktail or three per doctor\'s orders sounds good to me! *HUGS*

I don\'t drink but I know a beer now and then is ok for you. My grandfather loved his beer and always had a few every day. (6pack) But he still died of a stroke. I think it\'s how your body takes it.

Although hard liquor may not be as \"sweet\" as wine, ANY alcohol is metabolized like sugar in your body. Never heard that 3 drinks a day would solve a cholesterol issue. Even if it does, alcohol will ultimately create more problems than it solves!

I agree with most of the comments here. One drink a day is okay... but 3 a day is more than the recommended amount for a woman. I don\'t know if it would lower your cholesterol. Try fish oil instead.

i didn\'t know that statin mess with the good fat in the brain? or that all alcohol is metabolized as sugar...all of these people ARE drinkers, he did admit it could affect the liver, but you only find out as you go along....still don\'t know what to do and i still keep thinking if i get back to normal weight it will go away.

Finally found the post. :-)

It is often said that 2 glasses of wine is a good thing....if it is red wine. I think what is really worse for your liver is the mix that you add to your drink. Soo much sugar......just drink it straight!! :-)
