Phase 2
I'm entering phase 2 of my two year diet program. I've started using kettlebells for this stage, with the idea that I will lose five pounds in one month. This stage also includes soup everyday with extra carrots and celery added. I'm also doing more of the Leslie Sansone walkfit videos. I walked three miles last night without leaving my livingroom. Her program is great. You just walk in place, no treadmill or outdoor activity required. She's added extra moves into the routine that allows for a good strength training workout. I would recommend this program for anyone wanting to get in shape because unlike other workout tapes, you're not required to learn intricate routines. It's the total opposite of lets say a Zumba routine where you've got to know the choreography. When I started using her program, I used the one mile walk. Now I'm about to do the four mile walk. I don't buy the DVDs instead I rent them from Netflix.
My progress: I don't weigh myself, but when I started I was wearing a size 20. Now I'm in a 14 and can even get in some size 12s. The best part is how good I feel. When I started this goal I said I wanted to lose weight. Funny thing was, I noticed that I actually felt younger, so I changed my goal to growing younger.
These are the things I've grown younger with:
My Skin--I use vitamin C that makes the collagen thicker, therefore tightening the skin. My skin is now smoother.
My attitude: I've started looking at the best in people again. I'd started looking at the worst in people as I grew older. I guess it comes with age, now I'm pulling back the clock.
My body: I'm slimmer, but I also can go up the steps without holding onto the rails. This wasn't possible even 15 years ago. Last night, I literally ran down the stairs and back up without getting out of breath.
My Feet: I found out my arches had fallen and I had heel pain. I was told there was nothing that I could do about it save buying insoles. I did that, but I also started doing a Yoga for foot pain routine. It includes using a foam 12 inch half round foam roller. I use it every night. Now my feet are pain free and I no longer limp--which brings me to:
My Walk: Did you know that older people shuffle because they use only part of their feet. It's suppose to be start with your heel and push off with your big toe. Older people skip the heel and use the mid part of their feet which causes the old-person walk. So, I started practicing the proper way to walk. Now, two months later I'm able to wear higher heels instead of the laced shoes I'd been wearing that people called old lady shoes. I have no problems walking in them either.

Congratulations! You are doing great. All the best.
I lost weight as well and feel a lot better. Breaking up with Dave was the best for me and a more healthier way to live for myself as well.
I know for better health that I will have to incorporate some kind of exercise program for myself. Keep it up from Diane B.
