permission to feel
I have been wracking my brains today. I went to work and therapy and I did a couple of errands.
I have been home now. Alone and just watching tv. When we were talking, my therapist consoled me.
She said "Mark, most people don't have to deal with what you experience, you are handling this with great grace.." It was a very nice thing for her to say - and it consoled me and helped me see some light in a way.
So I have been here in my apartment alone now for the last hour and a half - and my mind has been disrupting and denegrating my sense of value. I then saw the title of a book - which stood for a wonderful concept..."Permission to Feel." I find it a really affirming idea...I am feeling hopeful suddenly and I thought to share. Purely selfish on a level... Also in the management of my own daily crisis some way it could be helpful to someone else to set them free. Peace and namaste..

I think it's a wonderful title and I am so glad that you have such a kind and supportive therapist.... Big hug sweetie... xo
Thanks Jan!!
Permission to feel? ? ? After decades of psychotherapy, I still want the *Right* to NOT feel, but here I am, still one of those irrationally emotional human critters. . Where's the justICE? Who made up these freaking rules, anyway?
Onward through the fog. . .
I'm a huge fan of channeling that frustration into community service. Letting the world grow larger than my strictly personal pain carries more healing mojo and self-validation than all the pills in all the world's pill factories put together. It sets us ALL free to care and feel.
