people who don't understand depression

I am lucky to have a fiance with health insurance that covers my meds and part of therapy. It doesn't however cover the majority of my pdoc bills. I don't generally ask for help, but over the last year, have been encouraged by my mother to ask her for financial help when I need it. I gave in and asked for some help with my doctor's bills. I got an email saying she sent money to help with the bill, but her advice is to "just get a job," "just get out of bed like a normal person," "please just listen to my advice just once." I am feeling too numb to be really angry but when I stop to think about it, I am hurt by her words. As if I need to hear that I'm not trying hard enough. That somehow it's my fault I can't get out of bed in the morning like a "normal person."
She also mentioned that I should just get a job in anything I have experience with rather than my chosen career (which is in the arts) since as she put it, the economy is bad and I won't be able to find work in my career. I feel like she's criticizing me for choosing to be in the arts and not being "practical." I am just venting. I know she means well, but the way she says things really gets under my skin and I'm already feeling bad enough about myself without the added pressure
Makes me wish I never asked for her help in the first place. Sigh.
