PEACE BE WITH YOU,MY CHRISTMAS CARD
I HAVE A LIST OF FOLKS I KNOW, ALL WRITTEN IN A BOOK AND EVERY YEAR AT CHRISTMAS TIME, I GO AND TAKE A LOOK, AND THAT IS WHEN I REALIZE THAT THESE NAMES ARE PART ,NOT OF THE BOOK THERE WRITTEN IN, BUT OF MY VERY HEART. FOR EACH ONE STANDS FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS CROSSED MY PATH SOMETIME, AND IN THAT MEETING THEY HAVE BECOME 'RHYTHM AND THE RHYME' AND WHILE IT SOUNDS FANTASTIC FOR ME TO MAKE THIS CLAIM, I REALLY FEEL THAT I AM COMPOSED OF EACH AND EVERY NAME. AND WHILE YOU MAY NOT BE AWARE, OF ANY SPECIAL LINK, FOR ONCE YOU HAVE MEET SOMEBODY,THE YEARS CAN NOT ERASE, THE MEMORY OF A PLEASANT WORD OR OF A FRIENDLY FACE. SO NEVER THINK MY CHRISTMAS CARD ARE JUST A MERE ROUTINE, OF NAMES UPON A CHRISTMAS LIST, FORGOTTEN IN BETWEEN. FOR WHEN I SEND A CHRISTMAS CARD THAT IS ADDRESSED TO YOU, IT IS BECAUSE YOU ARE ON THAT LIST THAT I AM INDEBTED TO. BUT WE ARE BUT A TOTAL OF THE MANY FOLKS WE HAVE MET, AND YOU HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THOSE I PREFER NOT TO FORGET. AND WHETHER I KNOWN YOU FOR MANY YEARS OR FEW, IN SOME WAY YOU HAVE HAD A PART OF SHAPING THINGS I DO. AND EVERY YEAR CHRISTMAS COMES, I REALIZE ANEW, THE VERY BEST GIFT THAT LIFE CAN GIVE, IS KNOWING FOLKS LIKE YOU. AND MAY THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS THAT FOR EVER AND EVER ENDURES, LEAVE ITS RICHES BLESSING IN THE HEART OF YOU AND YOURS. LOVE ,SHIRLEY

Hi Shirley, I write Christmas cards most every year now. I write one of those dreaded Christmas letters but I try to make it fun and interesting. I have often wondered why I do it??!! One reason is I like getting Christmas cards so I figure if I send them I will get them! But, another reason is I like things to be kind of neat and wrapped up so for me, sending out Christmas cards and going through the list of people in my book is a kind of final summary for my year. Now, though, because of your beautiful poem, I have a completely different way to think about this. I love the way you describe our Christmas list as a list of people that compose a little part of each of us. I send out cards to family that I don\'t see or talk to but, they are family and they are a part of my ancestry, which is very important to me. Sending cards to my friends is definitely an expression of the love I have for them. So...thank you so much for this wonderful words...they really mean so much to me, personally. I do not do cards anymore, I do not have it in me. I am joyfull receiving them, but it is to painfull to send out. I perfer to give a hug and wishes in person.
